Small town life - Big Horn area
Can anyone give me information about relocating to one of the smaller towns in med Wyoming? For example, Greybull, Worland, Lovell, Powell, and Mee-tee-tse.
I work in music therapy in a hospital and my husband is a Network/PC technician. We may consider retirement in this area.
Thanks!

I grew up in Lovell and have family still there. What would you like to know?

Sugar House
What do you know about the history of the Sugar House in Lovell on Hwy 14A & 32? You grew up there, is it a good place to grow up? Thanks.

I am just outside Cody, and am a nurse. If you want to come to this area, I would choose Cody or Powell. Lovell is essentially a dead city. Downtown stores are mostly closed, not much to offer as far as a shopping, homes. There are three hospitals, Westpark, Powell Valley, and Bighorn. None of them use music therapy. I doubt if ever will Medical is VERY behind here, that type of therapy is not in the budget. As far as telecommunication, it is also behind, but trying to catch up. Jobs will be non-existant, so if you retire here, do not plan on extra income. Drugs are becoming quite a problem here, several meth busts lately, with, shall I say, 'legal' person involved. Homes have become quite expensive here, about $250,000 for a 1500sf new home. Depends on where you are coming from if that is good, or bad. If I can answer anything specific, PM me.

Cowley
I live in Utah, but hold great sentimental value for the Big Horn area. My mom grew up in Cowley (just outside Lovell) and I spent at least two weeks out of every summer at my grandparents home there. Granted, I dont know much about living there on a full time basis, seeing as how I have never done it. I know my mom loved her hometown and growing up in the Big Horn Basin. I can tell you that any place that can continue to bring back such fond feelings and memories, can not be too terrible of a place to live! My mom has passed away, and I have been to Cowley/Lovell three times in the last six years. Cowley has new schools and will hopefully prosper. I would move, if I could ever talk my husband into it! It is definitley small town, not much excitement. But if you like that sort of thing......

Sheridan
I would look real hard at the Sheridan Veterans Aministration. They are screaming for people in both of your fields. They are GS jobs (Government Service) and have excellent pay structures and benefits. It's an excellent hospital and facility. I know, I was in the hospital for 53 days last year.

elkhunter is 100% right on this one. I work at the va hospitol and I'll bet elkhunter and myself have crossed paths? Beautifull facilty that is going through a " growth" movement at present time- skill positions are in great need. Many people retireing after long service. Lots of entry level positions. Check it out on GOVJOBS.COM. You can find jobs in your field all over the the good old USA. GOOD LUCK!
