And there's the other VA, which I think may be a lot larger (tho not positive) in Cheyenne as well.

Yes, although I've not been to the VA in Cheyenne, I've heard that it's a larger facility. Casper also has a clinic, but no hospital.

Something you might consider is the VA. Here in Sheridan they've always got openings and with your preference points, you'd have a good opportunity.

Thanks Elkhunter.
I registered at both places. I also did quite a bit of looking around in the sites. It helped alot in getting a better view of Wyoming's employment opportunities. After reading up on Wyoming, comparing the previous comments and the employment possibilities to a map of Wyoming, I hope to narrow down my search and actually come visit Wyoming for a short period. That is provided I can get some leave time.

Wyoming is a very large state. The areas, and the people, are very different from one town to another. So figure out a few places and then start blasting us with questions. We'll all kick in what we can.

Wyoming or Bust
I've always wanted to live out west. Horses, ranching, the atmosphere, it's all had me since I was a kid. Growing up in Ky I worked my grandfather's farm till he passed away then another family farm till I joined the USMC. Now that my enlistment is closing to the end, I'm looking at all of my options. I'm certain that I want to head west and to Wyoming. I'm also certain that I want to go to college, preferably Casper College. My studies will be in Agriculture, possibly soil conservation, range managment, or something related. Really want a job that allows me to work in the feild. I just need to find the right job that will accomidate a school schedule and allow me to earn enough money to maintain my finacial responsibilities. I want to work a ranch while in school as I will be bringing my horse and dof with me, but don't know if it will be feasable, but I'm going to need a place to keep'em. Also don't know how hard it is to find housing and how expensive living cost are out there. (rent, utilities, deisel fuel, etc) Any advice and your two cents are greatly appreciated.

Check out this website. If a job is listed at any job services office in the state, it will be on this site. Wages, benefits, conditions, experience, and a complete job description can be found.

I made a comment on your thread - another thought is that Cody also has BLM, USFS, Bureau of Reclam, & Soil Conservation offices all here.

The West is the sleaziest and most backward part of the U.S. by light years. Its "wholesome" image is such a joke. Wyoming is in the top four states in the nation in domestic abuse, meth abuse and suicide (highest in that). It also has the largest gap in income between males and females for the same work for all fifty states. There is no decent university or college here (the University of Wyoming and Wyoming Catholic College are both rated "Third Tier" by the U.S. News and World Report. They are the only two four-year institutions in the state.) Education is obviously not a priority. My town out here has about 20 skanky bars and not one bookstore. If you like getting plastered with other undesirables, you will think you have died and gone to heaven. Enjoy.

Wyo2008, I REALLY feel sorry for you. It is painfully obvious that you are not capable of finding anything positive about Wyoming and your "chosen" situation. Your glass will remain "half-EMPTY" regardless where you hang your hat. Life is too short for your way of thinking. Sad.
