Super 8 in Cody-Clean or pass?
We are going to visit Yellowstone for a few days in July and decided to stay in Cody as we couldn't afford some of the hotels/resorts closer to yellowstone. Is the Super 8 in Cody clean or should we look elsewhere? Thanks.

Pass...YUCK!! Dark, murky, smelly as still has same carpet/drapes from when you were allowed to smoke in all the motel. My recommendation would be the Rainbow Park - is cool, 50's style with the spring steel chairs outside rooms in a couryard type setting & reasonable rates for Cody - phone is 307-587-6251. Is at the east end of the main drag gong thru town (US Hwy 14/16/20 yet the courtyard set up is pretty quiet. And I think ALL the rooms - and at a minimum MOST of them have 2 queen or king sized beds with a folding divider to a sitting/tv area w/a kitchenette. But if you want more western ambiance the Americainn is near the Super-8 yet is reasonably new - maybe 8 years old or so - 307-587-7716. Is a bit more expensive of course. Also have a Day's Inn in the same area that is about 10-12 years old with a pool...hmmmm....can't find the phone # but would be on their website...the othe one I personally like as they are like cabin duplexes is the Carriage House. Don't know how much they cost now (we stayed there our first night in Cody 20 years ago but have been remodeled in the last 10-12 years - 307-587-2572. STEER VERY CLEAR of the Econolodge. Made it look nice on the outside but not on the inside. Those are my suggestions as a long-time resident....have a great time!!!

Try the Holiday Inn. Cody has a really nice one, and I've very rarely been disappointed by a Holiday Inn.

Summer rates are really atrocious there - there are other less expensive places that are nice. But it's not bad, but the parking there is whacked out & a lot of cars get hit there the way it is laid out. Took up a lot of their parking area with stuffing in cabins. Just a warning....

I stayed in a suite at the AmericaInn a couple of years ago. It was awesome...but only for a special occasion or if you have lots of money as it was quite expensive. It had a hot tub in the room, a separate living room, and a beautiful view right out the window. The "lodge" decor was amazing as well. All of Cody's rates are quite high during the summer, so I don't know how this compares to others, but it's a beautiful place if you want to check into it.

Yes, AmericaInn is pretty expensive. Was built & orig'ly owned by a doc & her husband (a contractor) in town but was sold in the last couple of years. They have built a new "resort" in town across from the rodeo grounds & I THINK is open. Another one that is totally beautiful & at the south edge of town just as you enter on 14/16/20 is the Legacy Inn. Is really beautiul & only a couple years old. Have NO idea of prices...

Try the forums at Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor as well .
We are coming through Cody on our way to YNP in July and actually had reservations at the Best Western Sunste Inn but cancelled them because we decided to stay the night in Thermopolis instead (due to a long days drive from Denver). The BW was recommended to me and I liked the location walking distance to the BB Museum. Granted I have not stayed there but it might be worth the look-see.
