Default moving to Evanston?

Hubby maybe getting a job in Evanston in the next couple of weeks. Is housing still an issue? Also, we have kids that are heavily into swimming and gymnastics, is there anything like that there? How about the schools? Is there any areas of town that are better to live in with kids? Thanks for the info!

I don't know much about Evanston. Others on this forum have complained that it has too many Mormons. I don't know anything about Mormons other than two barged into my apartment while I was in undergrad school and tried to preach to me. I don't think it's all that far from Rock Springs, which has the most pathetic little "mall" I have ever seen. Its only other claim to fame was the KKK having slaughtered all the Chinese once. I do think the state mental hospital is in Evanston, so you can check yourself in if you go stark raving insane.

Yep - the Evanston Hilton is right off I-80... wouldn't choose to live there but there are worse places - like Rawlins & Wamsutter...LOL!!! I just am not crazy about I-80 corridor. TOOO hot in the summer is one HUGE reason.

Evanston is not to bad of a place to live. The mormon commities are more Mountainview, Lyman, Cokeville, Labrage wyoming is where most of the heavy morman communties are. I liven in Kemmerer where 3/4 of the town are some form of cartholic. Houses are not to bad but will soon go down like evrything elese will hopfully do.

My son lived in Kemmerer for 3 yr & his boss was catholic (total JERK - but that was just HIM, not saying anything bout his faith) & is a pretty cool little town. Not too self-sufficient, but can't imagine it has high property costs???? They expect the coal to run out within the next 20 years!!!! Would think that would start showing up in the property costs.

There definitely is more cath than mormon in Kemmerer. But Big Horn Basin (I'm in Cody) has a HUGE mormon influence although there are enuff of us who are NOT that it sorts of dilutes it. Definitely Evanston & north are your most influenced areas in the state from my experience. AND Big Horn county.
