Did anyone else have a rough night last night?
Can't quite remember when the storm woke us - 2am-ish maybe? But we ended up taking our pillows, weather radio, etc. downstairs to sleep in the basement. Took awhile to get back to sleep for me, but much better than feeling like the lightening was right on top of us and a tornado siren might go off any second...
I normally love a good storm. Just feeling a bit vulnerable on the open plains these days I guess...
Stay safe everyone.
p.s. nice photos Kristynwy

Thanks Some of my pictures turned out to grainy after I uploaded them to photobucket, but the first couple ones I really liked...
We got pounded pretty good out here and so did they in the town of Sheridan...
I am sorry it was rough over there for you guys... Over in Gillette you guys have been pounded pretty regularly lately... I hope it calms down for everyone over there.

Kristy and I were both up til after 2 keeping the warnings posted here.
Plus, we kept having storms form West of town and start toward us. Then the storm would split and go South of town or North of town.
Was funny, it would hit Kristy's house and then about 15 minutes later it would hit mine.
So with IM, I guess you could call Kristy my early warning network. haha

What is this? Do you have something that will actually light up when something is imminent?
We have the type of radio where you push down the large button on top to hear the weather announcements. It rotates through.
Something that goes off when it's important would sure be more handy, especially in the tired deliriousness of the nighttime hours. I was wishing I had something like that last night...

It doesn't Light off as in Lights. haha But it does sound a siren or an alarm (can switch to which you prefer) when there is a new alert. Then you punch the button and it will give the alert specs.
The only pain is that it will light off and warn you. The storm will pass over and be 20 miles away and tracking outbound. If they have an update, it lights off again even though the storm is long gone. But I'd rather it did that then not.

I got both of mine at Radio Shack. I have one that plugs in to the wall. But I bought a second one that runs on batteries for when the power goes during a storm.
Each one was under $20. Just tell them you want one that alarms.
Also, they have some new ones out that you can specify what counties you want alerts from. that one is a little more costly but I would think it would be well worth it.
Mine alerts to warnings in the reporting area. So it may alert for Gillette and I'm in Sheridan. Or it will alert for Billings, 127 miles north. But the new one, you can specify particular counties.
