amanda as long as you dont act like the person mht is talking about you will be fine in wyoming.people in wyoming are great as long as you dont talk down to them,or constantly insult the state.of course thats true just about anywhere.if you 'put on airs' and constantly bleat about how superior your former home is people will be happy to invite you to go back there.if you embrace the many positive things about wyoming you will be welcomed with no problem.

I went to work for a company that moved in from out of state in 1991. The owner and several upper management contantly refered to the people of wyoming a "loyal sheep" I really needed a job at this time. I worked for them about 2 1/2 years until I got a job offer from a competetor I figured wouldn't fold in a few years, as so many oilfield companies did then. When I left I got the chance to have several of the employees I worked with go with me. We eventually hired almost 70% of the previous companies employees. I seen the owner of that company (he lost or had to sell it) in the Denver airport in 1997. He said he couldn't see how we (the employees that left his company) went to work for less money at a unproven company. I told him he ran his company on fear, intimidation, and also treating his employees a "dumb" animals. So we left. I don't think he ever got the full meaning of Wyoming. He left, because he couldn't find good people. To move his company foreward,as he told me.

well i dont talk down to people because i hate when people do it to me, and honestly i wont be saying anything about "how it use to be done where im from" because i dont really think anything is done right here. im very happy about the move to Wyoming...well minus leaving all my friends.
i understand what you mean about people talking about "how things were done where they lived." i worked with a woman who always talked about how things were done in NY. i hated having to listen to her, so one day i told her that if things were so great in NY, then why did she move down to NC. and of course she had nothing to say. there is nothing more annoying then having to listen to someone talk down about where they live when it was there choice to move there!
im not to worried about the weather either. i love the cold and i LOVE snow. while yes i love the "city" life, a change will be good for me. my bf says i need to start cooking, so i guess i will have to start now.

They used to have a bumper sticker that I had on all my cars and trucks. It read.
Welcome to Wyoming! We're glad to see you made it! Frankly, we don't give a **** how you did it back home!
It was a conversation opener for sure.
Another one I heard at a bar just before a fight sometimes.
If you don't like it here why don't you pack your (enter the appropriate state name here) **** and go home!
But that was a long, long time ago.

I love those bumper stickers! In California, it's more like: "Keep California beautiful. When you leave, take someone with you!" For some parts of the state, this is still applicable.

I had 4 ac. of greenhouses here in Fl. It's what brought me hear years ago. Sold that after 5 yrs. So, you don't think greenhouses would go in Wy? or make a living? I'm just trying to get back to TN.
