Default moving soon

My husband lived in Sheridan about 13 years ago and loved it. He was there in the winter October through April and said the weather was wonderful. We are going to be moving soon, probably within the next couple of months, and would like suggestions on places to live that are close to Sheridan and are not going to cost 'an arm and a leg' as some other posters have suggested. After living in North Carolina and Florida for the last 25 years, I am going to welcome the cooler weather. I was used to cold weather having lived in Wisconsin for the first 36 years of my life. And, I am going to welcome the change in seasons. If Sheridan is too expensive, what cities or towns do you suggest we look into? We'd like to live close to Sheridan. Also, we will be renting and have a cat. And, we will be looking for part-time jobs. We're both 61 years old or close to it. Any suggestions? I am anxious to see the West. The farthest West I've been has been Iowa.

Well unfortunately rents are still high at the moment in Sheridan and very hard to come by.
Rent for a nice place will be a minimum $900 to $1400 a month. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a place for $700, but usually snatched up in a day.

For example I called a rental just the other day, in a matter of hours it was gone...

You could try Buffalo, town of about 3,000, but their rentals are even harder to find.

We are going to go ahead and try to buy, cause we have had no luck finding a rental for our family. It can be done if you get on a waiting list ect... just depends on what kind of rental you want.

I would suggest coming down and securing a motel/hotel for a little bit and trying to find one depending on your budget, or making a small trip out to visit.

Gillette is about 90 miles east, but it is the major boom town right now, so a little more expensive than Sheridan even. Billings,MT is 120 miles North and has a lot more rentals available I think. Just depends on what your preference is.

Ask away any other questions you have and we will all try to be as helpful as possible

Get in touch with some of the realtors in these towns and find out what homes have been on the market for a long time. Maybe they'll be willing to rent out their home while they try to find a buyer. That could give you a few months to look around for something to buy yourself.

I can give you the name of one realtor that is very helpful in Buffalo if you're interested. PM me if so. Good luck!

When we first moved to Cody in the 1980's we lived in 2-3 houses that were for sale. Prob is of course there is no lease - is month by month, but they are only required to give you 24 hours notice to move out!!!! And they will do that. And of course you have to make sure EVERYTHING is always clean as a pin for showing - and they may show while you are away.
