Question Yellowstone Entrance fees Question...

Ok I got on their website to make sure I knew the correct entrance fees...

One section on a chart says
Sedan 1-6 passengers $25, plus $12 a person

Then in another paragraph it says

The entrance fee is $25 for a private, noncommercial vehicle; $20 for each snowmobile or motorcycle; or $12 for each visitor 16 and older entering by foot, bike, ski, etc. This fee provides the visitor with a 7-day entrance permit for both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Remember to keep your admission receipt in order to re-enter the parks. Snowmobile operators must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

I am confused
Do we pay only $25, or do we have to pay $25 and then an additional $12 for each person....

Last time we went in 2006, it was $25....

Just wanted to make sure before we go..

People that live in the area do you know what it is? or people that have gone this year..

Thanks

Ps. Here is the link to where I got my info

Is $25 for the vehicle full of ppl. Is $50 for a season pass - around here - because of traveling thru the park to shorten trips, we gen'ly get a seasonal pass. Used to only be good for 3 days but when they went up from $20 to $20 they made them good for a week, which was nice. Is only $12 per person if you are hiking in. Enjoy while you can - I see the day coming they will be limiting the number of vehicles allowed in each day...we are still fighting the fight to not DISallow snowmobiles. I can see the reasoning - the animals need some relief of ppl but believe me - winter is DEAD up there compared to the rest of the year - they are not being stressed.

Take someone over age 62... $10 - for a LIFETIME pass !!! (includes your whole carload). I hope I live to that age... been buying 'Golden Eagle' annual passes for over 30 yrs...(now they are 'federal access' $80), I figure it is going to a good cause, and have used mine in over 15 parks, recreation sites, and campgrounds in the last 3 months, so I am getting my money's worth this year. Annual Access Pass will get you into Tetons, Little Bighorn, Devil's Tower, Mt Rushmore, Jewel Cave, Wind Caves, Agate fossil beds, Chimney Rock, Rocky Mountain National Park, Fossil Butte...many more - all within a day's drive

It was good for free admission and 1/2 off camping at Veedauwoo, WY last week. Lots of different state and national forest campgrounds and fee areas recognize the Access Pass as a 'free-be' (not exactly free...$80).

Thanks Janb

My dad has a special pass that gets him half off or something like that, cause he is a disabled vet.. he was going to try to meet us before the park, but we are going early...
But I will check into the annual pass, we don't make too many trips, on every so often.. but if we plan on visiting more than one in a year, I will definitely consider that pass

Isn't that lifetime pass for the person over 62??? If you buy an annual pass for National Parks is for the IMMEDIATE (spouse or dependent children) use - not transferrable; they can yank it & the senior can be "blackballed" from getting further passes. Maybe this pass you are talking about is different though...I know Y'stone costs TONS to keep going & they have had to close many campgrounds & other things because of the costs involved with keeping the park staffed, IDIOT ppl safe that don't believe boiling water is really HOT, etc. etc. So guess I don't feel bad about paying the $25 for a week pass there - I know there are a lot of other parks in the same condition. For example - Y'stone was the only Nat'l Park that had an over-night actual hospital & 2 other clinics in the park (West Park Hosp here in Cody had the contract for YEARS and cost us a TON of $$$$$$ to keep the contract - was not a moneymaker). But now the docs forced the hosp to give it up (many of the bills incurred in Cody by private MD's & the hospital went forever unpaid unfortunately) & Eastern Idaho RMC took it over & now has 3 clinics - no more overnights. If somebody has to spend the night they HAVE to be transported out. So whether cutting the corners is for the betterment of the parks & monuments is the right way to go is a conscious decision I guess.
