Hoping to relocate to Wyoming-- help.
My boyfriend and I are seriously considering moving to Wyoming, we just can't agree on where at in Wyoming. You all seem to be full of helpful information so hopefully someone can give us a little more insight on certain parts of the state that will help us make a decision. I am currently a photography student and my boyfriend is a police officer. I realize it will likely be easier for him to find a job wherever we go, but does there happen to be any good studios around? Also, he is an avid whitetail deer hunter and refuses to move anywhere where there aren't whitetail. We tried to do our research but didn't find much. We have been looking at Cheyenne and Sheridan mostly, but we are open to other ideas as well. We're from Ohio and although our winters aren't nearly as harsh as Wyoming's I'm sure, weather isn't really something we're worried about. Hopefully one of you can help us out, it would be greatly appreciated!

quite honestly, Wyoming winters are probably easier than Ohio's (I'm from Wisconsin originally)....
Studios...hmmm, not a lot of luck there (maybe try one of the newspapers)....or there are some photography places (most are self-owned so I'm not sure if they hire out) in Casper. Shouldn't be a problem for your boyfriend.....city/town cops, sheriff's office, and WY highway patrol usually are hiring....you should consider Casper.
Whitetail deer do reside here in Wyoming, but there aren't as many as the Midwest (our prevelant deer species is Mule Deer)....but I know that populations tend to be higher on the eastern borders with South Dakota and Nebraska.
Are you looking for small town life? It would help if you gave some specifics as to what exactly you're looking for (If you have any preferences) or if you just want to move to Wyoming "just because".....we can fine-tune our responses if you can help us out in that area!

thank you, i'll check out casper. and yes, we are really looking for a smaller town. that was the only downside to sheridan and cheyenne, both were a little larger than we'd prefer. we live in a town of aroun 20,000 now, but it's a college town so when the students come back the population nearly doubles. as far as scenery, we'd love to live near the mountains, although that's not a necessity. hope that helps narrow things down a little! thanks again!

The good news is, the foothills between Sheridan and the Big Horns are chock full of Whitetails.
The bad news is, unless your going to buy, there isn't much for housing here.

Look at towns at the foot of the big horns, Worland, Lovell, Cowley.. Cody is also a nice town, around 8,000 more or less, and FULL of deer.. and tourists.

My husband and I moved here from Michigan in 06, and we love it! We chose to move to Pinedale, it is a very small town, but growing and the mountains are beautiful. It is between Jackson Hole and Rock Springs. There are not many white tail out here, which my husband as always hunting in Michigan since he was a child. But he loves the hunting out here, elk, mule deer (which their racks get huge compared to white tails!) moose, moutain lion, etc... lots of stuff to hunt!To check out Pinedale you can go to pinedaleonline.com, good luck!

And full of art & photography galleries, & is a strong photography dept at Northwest College in Powell. There are whitetail in the ag areas in the basin, tho of course no as many as in Ohio - I'm a buckeye myself I grew up in Granville (east of Columbus about 30 miles - in those days, not so far now...) but is just at the edge of the hills heading down towards Zanesville & on into Appy country. Loved it but WAY toooooo populated for me now......Cody is usually in need of police, as are most Big Horn Basin towns (Cody, Powell, Lovell, Greybull, Basin, Worland, Thermopolis area) & deputies. And there is PLENTY to photograph in this area, no doubt about that!!!
