Janb,

That's funny. I used to live in Skamainia. Lived in Chris Woodalls rv park.

If you are familiar with it, you'll know it's a couple hundred yards down a trail to go fishing. My son at that time was in 7th grade. He walked down to go fishing. About 10 minutes later he come busting through the door.

Now he's a Marine and is over in Iraq. But he still won't talk about what he saw that day.

I know this is a really old thread, but I just found it, besides, we're due for a new topic on top anyway! This was sighted in the county I live in. It was a huge joke around the area at the time, but it's interesting nonetheless. Notice how it is in the "pet" section of the webppage, lol!

You know ElkHunter....there are things that no one can explain (in all aspects of life). Though I've never seen what you talk about, I don't deny it exists....that's like saying that I don't believe an atom exists because I've never seen it...

What interests me is that in a later post, you stated you didn't go hunting....instinct kicked in for some reason or another and you trusted your gut feeling....more people need to do that.

I don't think you're crazy at all....who would I be to judge what someone else saw/experienced?

Was it aggressive, or did it just try to get the heck out of your way? I'm very curious!

Originally it was on the right shoulder of the road and then started out across the road at an angle going away from me. I had to really hit the binders. As it got to the left shoulder of the road it kind of glanced over it's shoulder at me and kept going. Not aggressive at all. With me sliding tires and screaching brakes, it seemed like it wasn't fazed with it. Just ambled across and down through the ditch and was gone.

To me the pictures looks like a chimp. Maybe escaped from a zoo or something. But all I know with all the reports of sightings there probably is something out there. I just know that I do not want to see it. Don't like getting the S##T scared out of me.

And you are right, we do need a new subject to discuss

I was thinking the chimp thing too, but there are no zoos even close though. I thought more like someone had one as a pet and it escaped or something. All the businesses in town here were putting things on their advertising signs things like "Bigfoot Shops Here!", and stuff like that. I totally believe that there is a creature like that, though, I just don't think this is one, IMO. And I have to agree with you, I don't like getting the S##T scared out of me either!

Hubby & I always carry a rifle & 2 pistols too. For the exact reason, although the 2nd pistol has bear loads. A LOT of grizz's in Cody area. And most ppl I know here (and are a lot....) that do the same thing. May carry only 1 with just bear loads, but if you have to shoot your game a 2nd time while is down you don't wnat to put a 2" hole in it if you get a trophy...

I thought the chimp thing too - maybe even 2 of them or a chimp and a dog. And whose to say they escaped from anywhere close by??? And if somebody had a chimp illegally - w/o the proper paperwork (believe there is special paperwork & vaccinations required) they probably wouldn't report it missig. But I would not at ALL doubt that there is something else out there that is just smarter & more cautious at keeping out of sight most of the time. Is one reason I won't go in the ocean. They are always surprised at things in the ocean & how aggressive they can be! LOL!!! Yup - scared of sea monsters- - esp. sinceI got into sharks when I was 10 in Gulf of Mex in Fla.

Just out of curiosity, what do you use for "bear loads"?

All throughout history we have seen genius minds and even not so genius minds ostracized over claims that just have not been validated yet - and before anyone knew it - those claims were verified 100% correct. Darwin. Galileo. Davinci. No open-minded person would call you a crackpot just for believing in something that hasn't been verified. Glad to see you can speak your mind. Oh, and shadow, that was a damn good story!
Now ElkHunter, you aren't going to let a 700 pound bipedal animal take away credence from your nickname are you?!
