Default moving to Thermopolis ????

The company I work for is moving their manufacturing plant to Thermopolis, Wyoming. A town not to much smaller than we are in now, any info on the town would be appreciated. The moving bonus isnt something I can pass up, and the wife seems to be packing already. What are the people, weather, political climate like?

I lived in Thermop for 13 years. The people were generally nice, but like any small town, there is gossip. There are a lot of retirees in town. I don't know if you have children, but my children did well in the schools there. There is a brand new high school. The middle school is only a few years old and the elem. school has a newer addition. I don't know much about the politics there. It didn't really seem to be much of an issue. I did enjoy the hot springs, especially in the winter. Thermop has a pretty big tourist population during the summer and most of them are at the pools. I, myself, would not move back to Thermop. Although I grew up in an even smaller Wyoming town, Thermop is just too small for me. I don't like everything knowing, or thinking that they know, my business! Although you can get the necessities there, any real shopping is quite a drive away. Although there are good things about the town I personally do not like Thermop and have especially learned that since I moved away. Best of luck to you.

We are a small Defense Contractor manufacturing class 3 cables for the Military. Our stuff is in everthing from the Bradley fighting vehicle, F/A-18, Patriot Missle and some NASA. Im not sure our customers even know we are moving I will have to ask my boss before I post the name of our company. What are the people like in the area?

What specifically do you want to know about the people? That's a pretty broad question!

I never would have thought of that as a broad question.

Examples of what you may want to know:
Age spread of the population
Whether people are friendly to newcomers
What business people are like
What do people like to do for fun
Whether people are "cliqueish"
Socio-economic groups of the people there and their attitudes towards those
in other groups
How people are toward various religious affiliations
Whether there are a large # of people who drink, etc.
Whether people associate much with their neighbors

I could go on & on, so I guess I see it as a very broad question. I'd be happy to answer any particular questions you may have!

We visited Thermopolis last month. We enjoyed the town very much.... The people there were very friendly....we met a very nice mechanic who worked on our car...we were very pleased when he presented us the invoice...we were in a position where we could have been taken advantage of $$ wise...but he was very fair. I was impressed! We enjoyed the hot springs pools (they were a little stinky though) and all of the museums in town. The town was clean and had very nice city parks.

I did see a lot of people buying water....I became concerned that maybe there was a problem with the local water supply...so I asked a lady at the grocery store. She told me that many of the homes outside the area did not have water...they had to haul it in for use at home. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay there.
