I crossed the scales at 28,800 GCVW with my '93 dodge 1T 4x4 cummins just last week. It cries pretty bad after pulling the 5 mile, 10% grade though switchbacks, just to bring me home. It tows my 20,000#GVW 'eager beaver' beaver tail EVERYDAY. (and through some serious mud... + I bought this one from a well driller, a pretty ez pre-life. )
Wanna buy a good 'used' truck ? not rusty, but a bit moldy.. (currently 110"+ rain/yr, and it leaks...) I have 3 others, but they leak too...
yet another reason for WY... Don't have to wear overshoes when owning a leaky vehicle,
tho there was a night when backed up in traffic on Sherman Pass, for 2 hrs. The wind was blowing snow through the cab of the '63 Studebaker Diesel, and drifted about 6" deep around my feet. The WSP came by and banged on the door every so often to make sure you were ok... that was nice of them. Of course I had to keep switching tanks so they would all three keep warm enough not to gel, long night (lot's-o'-miles ahead).

I'm not sure. We was through there this summer so just had it done there. We had totally worn a couple pair out. They are made so well they last a long time. My brother-in-law lives in Philipsburg. I'll call him and see if he knows.

Life in Wyoming
I went to school at the U of Wyoming from 1962, and made Laramie my home ever since. There is no place on earth like Wyoming.
The high plains of this region (7200 feet above sea level) are cool in the summer chilly in the winter and during severe weather, gets high winds. If you like life as an adventure, this is the place.
Nights are often crystal clear... stars by the billions. Summer days average 72 - 75 degrees for a high. Nights are around the 55 - 60 mark. Winters can be bitter cold, but the average is actually more around the freezing point or just below. This past winter was the coldest I've seen for a long time, with lots of snow... unusual for this country.
I have never regretted moving back here. It's also a fabulous place to raise a youngster. Family friendly, many parks, friendly people... just like the old west.
All the best with your plans,
GB Tate

Thought about Colorado, sounds good but, can anyone just tell me what its like to live in Wyoming. Anything just a quick statement. No information needed can find all of that on the internet, but a good reason why you like living there would be great. Thanks

I just got back from four days in Wyoming last night. We flew into Denver, drove into Laramie, toured the town and the college (thanks to a friend who is getting her Anthro Ph.D. there) and went to as many places in the state as we could get around to in four days. The fun part was the drive from Thermopolis which began at eight yesterday morning culminating at Denver airport at seven last night.
It is an amazing state full of gorgeous vistas, wonderful people, critters in abundance, and cold, cold, wind. I loved every minute of it.
We were considering a move before the trip but know for sure that we're going now. I'm applying for transfer to U of W for the fall quarter today! Hubby is applying to teach there. He has a Ph.D. in Renaissance Literature.
Today I have a rebound headache from the letdown of being back in Los Angeles at sea level with too many people and brown air. We're just hanging on until we sell the house so that we can get back to Wyoming!

Why Wyoming
The number one reason to choose to move to Wyoming is the people. I lived there for three years and was initially amazed by how friendly and interesting the folks I met there were. Sure there are some grumpy people, but, perhaps because the population is low, the majority of the natives are friendly, helpful and down to earth. They aren't jaded like people tend to get in places that are overrun, but they aren't hayseeds either. They are tough, resilient and spirited. All that cold keeps the riff raff out, they'll tell you. It has perfect summers, low humidity and comfortable temperatures.
The number two reason to move to Wyoming is its beauty. It has the most stunning skies of anyplace I've ever seen. The mountains are wonderful to look at, fine to explore. The Bighorns are glorious.

we are in florida now, and its a mess a hot mess in fact. we are from the west coast originally but the wages there are the lowest, i know that sounds petty and the wages may be that way in wyoming to but it's just not the same. i love the oregon/washington coast. i just don't want to live that close to family anymore if you know what i mean. lol lol and wyoming has always been one state that i have always passed thru on my way home. and it looks like a really great place to be and people that i encountered were really nice. thats about it
