I've been getting a good history lesson over here tonight

Ghost Towns and History of the American West

pretty good idea to run around and explore some of these.

I'm a ghost town fanatic. Take out your map. Look at Sheridan. Then look at Ranchester. Do you know there are 3, registered towns, had post offices, between Sheridan and Ranchester? There is.

I love the idea of tracking down ghost towns. I have a map program that will show me towns that died 100 years ago. They are gone. But I can drive out and show you the graveyards from that town and I can show you old foundations or the rock base of a fireplace. It just facinates me.

How neat I read a little bit about Ghost towns in Wyo, there was even a mining town up in the Big Horn Mountains that is now a Ghost town, all that is left is a few pieces of foundation.

I am also! Keep in mind, the site you've visited on the Web is a fairly decent tool...however, there are many more ghost towns in Wyoming than are listed there.

hahaha Sorry, I don't use the net. I have maps that are so old they are brittle. I sometimes use the net to get an idea, but then resort to the old paper. It's not even an atlas, it's rolled paper. haha

It is unfortunate I've moved, ElkHunter...we'd probably have enough between us to stock a library...I have many rolled maps and such - hand drawn, whatever also!

Clay Lady...the coffee isn't so bad, I've done that and it sure gets one on their feet in the cold morn

Highlandlady, it is unfortunate you have moved! When I order coffee, I always ask if it is freshly made. If, by some interesting turn of events, we were all to find ourselves in the widerness together - I will be glad to make the coffee from freshly ground beans. .....If you are going to imagine something - may as well make it good!!
