What do you mean by what is the deadline? Are you asking when schools actually start? There is no actual "deadline". Kids start school anytime they move in, whether it be at the start of school in the fall or whenever. Which district is the best is a difficult question. Can you be more specific about what you are looking for? Wyoming schools range in size from tiny rural schools with only a few students all the way up to the bigger schools in the "big" towns (HA!). You need to be more specific about what you are looking for, what size town you want to live in, etc. to get a good idea of what schools are like. One thing I know, is that Wyoming schools are much better funded than those in a lot of other places. I grew up in Wyoming and had a great public education in a town of about 3,000. I am now moving from Montana after teaching here for several years back to Wyoming to teach where not only I'll get a much better salary, but where the schools have much higher budgets so more to offer their students. I wish I would have decided to move back "home" a long time ago!

As of the 06/07 school year the cutoff date was that the child must turn 5 by Sept. 15th. I don't think that has changed.

Out of curiosity, do you know if there is "open enrollment" options in Wyoming? i.e. Live in one town but students can attend any school in the state? That is one reason a lot of small-town schools in Minnesota are losing enrollment and funding...because parents are driving their students to larger school districts. |
