Default Police work in Wyoming

Hello,
I'm currently finishing up school witha degree in criminal justice. I've been wanting to move out of iowa for awhile now, and out to the west. Reason being is all the times i've been out there i've loved it. Anyways i was wondering whats it like finding work and or workin as a police officer in Wyoming?
I've never been there but the pictures and everything that i've seen from there seem to be beautiful. So some information in general bout the state and what it's like there would be nice too

I know that the guys (and gals) who do it, love it. From the Highway Patrol, to county sheriffs, to city/town cops.....a lot of them are also volunteer EMTs and firemen (kinda comes with the territory)....

it will really depend on WHERE in Wyoming you want to live and the type of cop you want to be (and be doing).....

Sheridan/Gillette, Casper, Cheyenne/Laramie, or Evanston are going to be your biggest "cities" (if you can call them that....Casper only has 60K people, and Cheyenne is a bit smaller I believe).

If you're looking for "big busts", the WHP that work the I-80 corridor from Evanston to Cheyenne do a lot of the big drug busts from people driving their drugs through for delivery to other states. Personally, and from what friends I have that work for WHP, they live in the "smaller" towns and do a lot of speed-bustin' (those who live in Lander, Dubois, Riverton, Thermopolis)...but it's a nice lifestyle for someone who may have a family or looking to settle down.

The "city" cops in Casper get a lot of everything....not a lot of traffic violations, rather drug bustin' and stuff. Like most every other town in America, we have a meth problem...though not as bad as I hear it is in other states.

Don't rule out some of the smaller towns though....they have a lot to offer. Here in Wyoming, we don't judge distance by miles....but by hours. Like, Casper is 4 hours from Cheyenne, or 2.5 hours from Riverton, or 6 hours to Denver. (dependent on how fast one drives!....I'm a slow-poke and only drive about 60-65 on the interstate where the speed limit is 75mph).

I posted a reply for you on your same post on the Montana thread. I think Wyoming would be a better bet for you money wise. Gillette is really growing and I hear they are always hiring. Check it out!
