There is so much to see and do in the area, that I think camping is an excellent option. The cost is reasonable, and the views vary greatly from one campground to another. With all the options in the Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, I would at least recommend that you consider this option. Another great thing about camping is that you will likely get outside more to experience the views, than if you stay in a house or cabin (I know I do). As was stated in an earlier post, camping by the lakes is a wonderful (and very scenic) experience. I am grateful for the time I've spent camping there, and am looking forward to my next opportunity to do so. I also enjoy the nature programs put on by the National Park Service (classes and lectures, etc.). If you decide to camp there, though, be sure to make reservations in advance, since the campgrounds often fill up quickly in the summer.
I am not trying to talk you out of renting a house for the summer, as I believe this would also provide a fantastic opportunity. I am only touting the opportunity that camping affords to get up close and personal with the beauty of the area. If you're anything like me, you'll want to spend most of your time in the area outdoors, so you can take in the splendor and majesty of the area.
