Machine, what I don't like is your question. (No offense to you) It's a VERY narrow minded way of thinking.........don't you think???? "Like or HATE"??? To judge someone because of where they live or come from........I don't get that. I like or dislike a person because of "the person", not because of where they are from. That should have NO bearing on whether you like someone or not. When we start stereotyping and making blanket statements about "individuals" we are headed for trouble. To draw conclusions and make "assumptions" about someone because of being from a certain part of the country or a certain state does a disservice to you and the person. It's a LOSE/LOSE way of thinking.

As has been said - just don't argue w/how we do things here by telling us how "we do it back home". If is better - then go BACK home - I don't care WHERE you are from! If Wyo is hyome now, then that is how we do it now. I don't think a lot about it either. What's the point??? If here, are here! I know as many great ppl from Cali as those that I wish would head back. But the same holds tru for a lot of other states.

I have to agree a little, plus this is an old post that started back in February and hasn't been responded to since March...
There are numerous "Californian" posts and "newcomer" posts... so I think this has been discussed several times... Just a heads up to everyone

Californian's
I was raised in California back in the 50s and 60s when it was a great place to live. I was raised in a little town called Glen Avon where if it hadn't been for the Bravo Cattle Ranch there wouldn't have been a town. I left that god awful state on two different occaisions and once and for all in the late eighties. To answer your question, no one I have met here in Cody, Wy. holds it against a person because of where they are from but they will hold it against you if you come here wanting to change things from the way they are to the same as where you came from. Just be real, be honest and treat people the way you want to be treated and you will have no problem in Wyoming, Californian or other.

Wyomingites are tolerant of anyone as long as they don't try to change everything around them. I have not heard people complain about out-of-state people too much as this state has a transient population.

Howdy all,
I've been a native Californian since '65. I love this state and the majority of the people in it. Yes, I've witnessed a lot of change and the increase in population over the years has had an impact on the quality of life. However, California, being such a large state, there is plenty of room to roam and breath fresh air! City life is city life: L.A., NY, Chicago, etc. If you want mountains (Sierras), ocean and the desert, come on down!!!
The folks that like to stir the pot for time to time might want to take a ride on the positive side of life! Anytime anyone would like to compare states (constructively w/respect) let me know! If you've ever taken the time to travel around California and experience it's beauty then you know what I mean.
Just a friendly hello to the folks in Wyoming, love your state! I look forward to paying a visit in the near future when I retire. Lastly, I believe that the majority of folks from Wyoming and California understand that "NIRVANA" is where you make it!!! There are pros & cons in every state.

I will be moving to Wy this coming Monday, presently live in Colorado. That said... It isn't what state one comes from, it is the *attitude* that matters. Now, I will grant you everyone is different...but I think where the negativity comes in is how a new comer "handles" things. To be totally frank, and believe me, there are a lot of folks in CO that feel this way....The cost of housing here has gone out of sight compared to what it once was. Why? Well selling a house in CA, the money gotten for that house and then spent here...we have seen what once was affordable property become unaffordable. Then we have this "attitude" thing...I don't know why, but it seems that the Californians that do come here...Not all, but a sizable amount of them are disrespectful, outspoken, ultra liberal boors. Yes, I have been in California a few times...got the military...San Diego area, etc. No way would I ever consider living in that state. Bottom line...again, it doesn't matter what state one comes from, just leave the state you come from there...don't drag it with you. I am sorry if this sounds a bit harsh....but I am only speaking about what I have experienced.

I'd like to make it clear that all those "californians" who go to wyo and colorado are not really californians. They likely came to calif from some other state, and after doing their damage to the once great state of calif, they move on to destroy another state.
I do property management in Los Angeles and I get about 10 or 12 apartment applications a day. I ask for rental histories and references going back 10 years. About 80% of those apps are from people who have moved to calif in that 10 year time frame. The most common states they come from are Texas,Colorado(PAY attention Coloradans) and New York.
