The meth problem here in WY is much smaller than what you're probably used to in AZ.
One huge difference is that although people are on it, you rarely see people wandering the streets looking for things to steal and people to rob. I heard Gillette has a huge meth problem, and I have seen some tweekers up here. However, back in Modesto (affectionately called methdesto by many residents) there are WAY more identifiable problems associated with the drug. Up here I think it is more associated with the long hours in the oilfields/coal mines, but more of the social issues probably don't arise because so many of the addicts have a few $$ in their pockets to support their habit.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not justifying their actions by any means... if I can work full-time, go to school, and run a small business without getting spun anybody can. I just don't see the trains of tweekers on bikes with trailers riding around town every night looking for things to steal like I've seen in the larger meth areas. I would be willing to wager that if the mines ran dry there would be more serious repercussions though.... there would be a lot of tweekers that aren't making much $$ anymore and they would turn to other things. This job market probably alleviates most of that right now....
Meth is everywhere..... for anybody who thinks Wyoming's meth problem is that bad (comparatively speaking of course), you might want to visit the area I just moved from in CA. Whoa.....
