I say California
Go to California... a lovely multicultural melting pot, you won't stand out too much, and you won't have to worry about those mean old racists in a mostly white state like Wyoming.
And the correct spellings are "racism" and "counselor".

Laramie
Could someone please tell me about Laramie? Are they friendly to "outsiders"? Is it dominated by one group or is it a pretty flexible community?

Laramie
Laramie is a very friendly town and is full of "outsiders". It is home to the University of Wyoming. Small town, friendly, lots going on. It is cold and windy in the winter but the summers are great.

Laramie is ran by a group of "good ol' boys". Don't get me wrong I like Laramie, but if you're trying to get ahead with a business that one of their croonies is in it won't happen. Things happen much easier there for people who are from there that's all. However, because of the college there are a lot of different kinds of people there, it kind of has a granola feel like Ft. Collins, live and let live.

Compared to other cities in Wyoming, Laramie isn't that bad. But that's not saying a ton...

I'm not sure what you mean by this statement but I'm not a native of WY and have had no problem since we moved here. I do think that it has a lot to do with your attitude when you move here though. If you want to "fit in" and get along then you will. A friend of mine is Korean. When they moved here she was worried about racism - found WY to be less racist than D.C. or L.A.

I live in a very liberal majority native american part of the Us, and if you are white or conservative you will be ridiculed or even beat up in the school. Not fun. Racism dosn't go one way.

I had to post as soon as I saw your letter. I have lived in Wyoming 30 years and my husband was born here. One thing I can honestly say is there isn't discrimination against any one race-people in Wyoming just hate EVERYONE!

Why do you say that? Is it really necessary to be so negative without an explanation? I can actually say the opposite.

An explanation
When I first moved to Wyoming, from N.Y. My 1st husband was in the Air Force. Even though many native Wyomingites made their money by working on the base or selling to the military: there wasn't a day that went by that I didn't hear something derogatory against the military. When I got divorced and went to work for Social Services I heard that everyone hated the Hispanic, or people who lived on the south side. Then I remarried and moved to Gillette, what a mistake! Up here everyone does hate everyone else. Native Wyomingites hate EVERYONE who wasn't born here. The coal miners hate the people who work in the CBM or oil fields. They hate the miners right back. Everyone hates the railroaders. The Hispanics hate the Blacks that just started to move in. And vice versa. It really is a stupid mess! For 28 years I have tried to make sence of it, and there is no way to. All 4 of our kids said "enought" and move out to other states. And as soon as my husband retires, we are out of here!!! That is what I mean by my statement that" Wyomingites hate everyone.
