Right after he turned around and went home, they ended up shutting down all the roads to Buffalo and Gillette and the interstate. A couple guys that toughed it out and drove through the white out at 3-5 mph literally got trapped over in Gillette for the 2 days the roads were shut down lol...

He was happy for a little break of the driving that far though haha

He is back and at it today though cause a lot melted. Hopefully for only another week though I am crossing my fingers

He was telling me as soon as he got outside of Sheridan it got really bad...

Ok. I was crazy to think 1 ft in front of the garage was a lot. we ended up with a 5 ft snow drift in front of the garage. My arms are sore today from digging us, 2 neighbors, and the office walkway out even with a snowblower.

Well did everyone that was caught up in this latest storm get dug out yet? It was the first time in quite awhile that schools and businesses were closed here in Sheridan. Boy that snow sure was wet and heavy, my back is killing me. Nice that it melted off where it had been plowed or shovled though. Makes it nicer to drive on roads not covered in packed down snow and ice or worse slush.

I haven't ventured out yet to see how well the snow plows have been doing on the roads. I can only see a few side roads from my house and they don't look to bad. I will be going out today to get stocked up on some more goods before the next storms hit. I just hope everyone was okay and can also get out to get stocked up if need be.

I just hope we don't see another April of 82 or 83, can't remember exactly, I think it was 82 though. For those of you who were not here in Sheridan at that time we got around 4' of wet heavy snow with drifts as high as rooftops. Then we got some freezing temps afterwards which froze the snow pretty hard making it more difficult to plow and shovel. We had a couple of buildings whose roofs collapsed. There were downed trees and big old branches all over the place. Some people were litterally housebound because they couldn't get out of their houses because of the snow in front of doors and windows. It was a mess that took quite awhile to clean up.

I have had a few locals tell me stories of the storms in the 80's... I hope this year is not like that... yikes... I can't imagine..

We did pretty good with this latest storm, had our cable for our internet and phone get ripped down by the weight of the wet snow... so they put up a new line and made sure it was tighter too, it was running so low the branches of a lilac bush that was weighted down by snow helped the line rip in half also...

I got the house stocked up and ready to go with food too

Stay safe and warm...

At least you weren't without power like some folks were. I wish the utility companies would just burry their dang lines. They are a nuisense and and eyesore at times. I have had the pleasure of seeing some beautiful sunsets, sunrises and other glorious views and have tried taking pictures of them, only to have the views obscured with lines.

Glad that all was well for you overall. I don't know if we will have the same storms as we had in the 80' but I think we will be seeing some cooler weather this year or at least cooler weather a little longer than we have had in the last few years. There is several large volcanos going off around the world and often times they can affect the weather for a year or two afterwards.

Wow very interesting about the weather.
Yes I totally I agree I am very glad we didn't lose power. We have no back up heat.

When I lived in Oregon, we always had either a wood stove, or a pellet stove hooked up to a generator for heat. In Oregon I have been with out power for weeks in snow and it is no fun. If a wind storm came blowing through, huge trees would get knocked down all over the place causing the power to go out. We'd get at least one a year.

I agree about burrying the lines. Makes things a lot easier.

Ya want to know something funny, when we first moved here we rented a trailer on a ranch. The lady said in her farm house, when we asked her what her back up heat was. She said nothing. All they had is propane furnace.
I thought hmm interesting... She said I've lived here 8 years and never lost power. That first year we lived there we lost power! lol...
What is going to happen I am afraid though one day, is she will get snowed in and lose power and have no back up. She doesn't even have a generator.

That is the drawback to renting our house right now, it is nice and keeps us warm, but I sure wish we had a coal/wood stove or a fireplace... If we own a home one day, we have a brand new wood cook stove in our storage that will be the first thing we install. But for now still renting... while the ecnonomy is the way it is..
