I never had a problem....and we moved from Superior, Wisconsin to Dubois, WY (altitude of almost 7000 ft). Initially, I was a little tired, but the body soon makes the required RBC's to carry oxygen around (that's why some people consider training at altitude "cheating" because your body adjusts to the lack of oxygen and when one goes back down to sea level...you can exercise much longer/harder than previously).

I know the husband definitely could feel the altitude change when he returned to Wyoming after we've lived here in Alaska for a few months. We moved in June and he returned to Wyoming for hunting in October...going from near sea-level to 9000 feet or so. He stated he became winded very easy. Hydration is the key along with pacing yourself in any activity until your body acclimates to the altitude.

The elevation where we live now is 1,368 ft (417 m), and I'm looking in Fremont county--primarily Lander/Riverton/Ft Washakie are schools which are all roughly 5-7000 ft elevation. I did notice the altitude more when we went up the Louis Lake loop road, but then again I was a smoker. I appreciate all of the feedback. I will definitely have to keep the hydration in mind, as I am notoriously not good at drinking enough!
