Oh! Sorry to hear about your loss. No problem, I had the career services office at school give it a final look over. If I make it to Wyoming perhaps we can have a gathering of school teachers from the forum somewhere

That would be great fun! I'd love that! We just hired (I was on the interview panel) another case manager for our district who is moving down from Montana. Can you believe she has 3 master's degrees, including one in Admin., and was a principal in a tiny MT school and is coming here and will be making more on a teacher's salary than she did there on a principal's? Crazy, huh???? I think she'll be great here. Let me know when you hear anything on your apps!

Mountain View, Wyoming teachers and administrators
Could anyone help with information about the school district in Mountain View, Wyoming? I would like to apply, but something seems funny about so many administrators leaving at the same time. Please help before I have to decide whether to apply there.

Does anyone know if the WY constitution tests are multiple choice or short answer? Does it include both US and WY constitution content?
thanks. I'm going to be taking these within the next week or so.

I'm getting ready to move to WY on military orders for my spouse, and I wanted to know a few things. I don't have any experience in teaching in schools although I have taught some preschool here in CA. I have no formal education, some college no degree yet. Are there any jobs as far as preschool or anything that I can teach with out having formal schooling? I have a very extinsive background in childcare. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know the number of students in the elementary classes in Cheyenne, my 10yr old will be going to school there.

I don't know anything about the Cheyenne schools, sorry about that! In general, there are usually about 20-25 students per classroom at the 4th grade level (I assume your child will be a 4th grader) in the larger school districts. I can say that due to Wyoming's devotion to education that most schools hire quite a few paraprofessionals (formerly called "teacher's aides") for both regular and special ed. This may be an option for you. Paras tend to actually have opportunities to "teach" as they are helping the teachers they work with as they often times have small reading groups to work with, one-on-one help to students, etc. The only downfall is that you don't get paid during the summer and if you need the income you would have to find a summer job. Also, you may want to consider in home childcare. There always seems to be a need for good day care providers everywhere. Best of luck to you!

Thank you for the input, I will be looking for jobs. He actually will be in the 5th grade... Also how are the resource programs there, he is in resource here for math and reading, although I think that he will not need help in math when he gets there.

I'm a special ed teacher, but again, don't know much about Cheyenne. I do know that Wyoming schools, in general, are excellent and do know that the state puts a lot of money into education, including special education. I would think that Cheyenne has good resource programs in every school. I don't know what grade levels the schools are there, either, you might want to look that up online. Some schools have 6-8 middle school, some 7-8 junior high, some 7-9 junior high, etc. Being he will be in 5th grade it won't be long until he hits the next milestone!
