Default Commuting from Buffalo to Sheridan?

I was just wondering if many people commute from Buffalo to Sheridan? Is it feasible even in the winter months? Would Dayton and Ranchester areas be more convenient?

My husband currently has about 30-35 minute drive to work right now and may be relocating to Sheridan area in the next few months. He will be working at the Sheridan Airport. Just wondering if there are other areas to look into other than Sheridan that he may be able to make an easy commute from with "reasonable" real estate prices and decent schools. Are we better off just living in Sheridan? THANK YOU!!!

That 40 mile commute from Buffalo to Sheridan could get to be "old" real fast in the winter months. Between blowing/drifting snow and icey roads that disappear in low visability, it's not fun.

Yes, the commute can be done ... as many posters can tell us, they've commuted around the region with only a couple of days lost work through a number of years. But it's like hitting yourself over the head with a hammer only to feel how good it is when you stop doing the daily challenge of the commute.

Considering that incredible recreation opportunities are right upon your doorstep at Sheridan, the only thing I see you gaining by living further away from your husband's workplace is a possible opportunity to buy more land for a given price point and having your own "place" with privacy. Very nice if you can afford it, but it is a rather "pricey" area.

We looked at the Banner/Story area a couple of years ago, and that was very expensive ... beautiful views, nice soils, plenty of water when we looked ... but not reasonably priced for our planned ranch and farming habit. The area pricing is very much driven by recreational use, not housing for working folks.
