I just heard a rumor from a fairly credible source that midwestern home improvement retailer Menards was planning to build its first store in Wyoming in 2008. I know from experience that the locals often hear about new stores before many people within the company do because the developers have to get permits, hire local contractors, etc.

If anyone has heard anything about this please let me know. I work for Menards, and my wife has been begging to move to the Rocky Mountains for several years. This would give me a chance to fulfill her dream without having to change jobs.

Default Rumor

Rumor has it that Manards is coming into Gillette, Wy. Its been a strong rumor for about 6 months. A person I know works at Home Depot here and they were the first ones to hear it. It's going in across the street from them on Boxelder RD. I don't know who you'd call- unless maybe the store in Rapid City, SD. they seem to know everything. Good Luck

This is true--Menards is being built in Casper. I've "heard" that it will open here in the next month or two---but that is rumor.

Here's a reference to its construction--note that the reference is not in the article, but in the photo caption at the top left of the page.

People rave about Lowes and Home Depot. But Menards is the best by far. We have all 3 up here in Bismarck, ND. Hands down, Menards is the favorite. Because they are based in the Midwest, and most of their stores are in the midwest, they seem to know what people really need and are looking for in home improvement merchandise. Hope you are getting them in Wyoming.

Ya Menards is awesome, I go to the one in Rapid whenever I get over that way (I'm in Sundance).

I was in Casper a few weeks ago and Menards was coming along nicely -- should be open real soon now.

Default Menards

I work for a company that is bidding on the contract to set the inside of the store. Whoever gets the contract will be starting in June.

There are two Menards in Sioux Falls and Menards holds its own to the competition of Lowes and Home Depot. the ones in Sioux Falls keep busy and do great business, especially the west side one. Menards is a well-liked and regarded home improvement chain in the Upper Midwest. According to hearsay from other people, Menards is a good employer. I personally like it better than Home Depot, but it is a toss up between Menards and Lowes.
