[Mod cut]. I don't know what this poster's problem is; he's posted the identical thing on other threads. I suspect he couldn't make a living here, so now he's resentful that other people can.

Lander is very pleasant. It's a smaller city, but there's excellent shopping in Riverton. I suspect it is less windy than Cody, but has more snow. South Pass City and environs are a short drive. I know that most of the locals are conservative, but Lander unfortunately houses the Outdoor Leadership School, which is decidedly not. Talk about outsiders who want to change things.
I've lived outside of Cody for two years and have seen no evidence of an increase of big box stores. Wal-mart and K-mart have been here for years; and that's it. It would be really nice to have a Petsmart, but really very unlikely. There's no chance of a Lowe's or Home Depot. On the other hand, the only remaining small town, Mom and Pop predator store that I know about is the local dry cleaner. Thankfully, groceries and most common necessities are available at the same prices as the big cities.
If anyone wishes to start a business here, I know that another dry cleaner would do very well. Competition might make the original place lower their prices, but there are a lot of people here who do not like them.
We could also really use a coffee shop that allows smoking. There are certainly enough smokers here. Right now the only eateries that allow smoking are the Irma Hotel and the Silver Dollar Bar. There are are a couple vacant restaurants in town, so there's no problem finding a place. This would be guaranteed success.
