Default State Jobs-Cheyenne

I was wondering, is it difficult to get a State job in Cheyenne Wyoming? My husband and I will be moving to F.E.Warren in Sept and I will be in need of a job. I am currently trying to finish up my masters degree prior to arrival--I have 6 credits left

I am also trying to get a transfer with my current job but I feel like this will not be possible due to there only being one store available in Cheyenne. I have many varations of experience from Target and also from when I was in the Air Force. Please let me know your thoughts!

Welcome to the land of many retired Air Force folks, who are seeking ways to keep themselves occupied and with extra income.

Cheyenne, in particular, is suffering from low wages because there are so many trained, qualifed, experienced, and capable people with great resumes who are willing to work for little money.

When you see retired Col's working as stocker help at the local lumberyard, or car salesmen at the local used car lots, you will appreciate how far your background will take you in our current job marketplace.

I would urge you to line up employment in Cheyenne before you get here, if at all possible, perhaps with your current connections. Many jobs here with the state that require a Master's degree pay around $3-3,500 per month with benefits. Note, also, that Cheyenne is starting to see the effects of the recession economy and stores are closing now, layoffs are happening, and the current projection is that Cheyenne is losing about 750 jobs. That's a significant impact on our local job marketplace, and you can rest assured that many of those folks are applying now for state jobs that are posted at this time.

Good luck with your relocation.
