Default Moving to Worland, WY!

Hey everyone..

I'm a 24 year old male, in the Elementary Ed field and I"m moving to Worland WY this April to serve a year in the Americorps. I'm very curious to talk with others about the area and surrounding areas. I actually have a cousin who lives in Gillette. I'm still in search of a place to live. I have contacted several organizations regarding living.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of people who live and are willing to rent, share space, etc.

I'd like to know more about the area-places to go, eat, etc.

I'm moving from Superior Wisconsin (which is on the shore of Lake Superior-anyone ever been to Duluth MN/Superior WI-The Twin Ports? I was born and raised in Ironwood Mi (the upper peninsula of Michigan)

I'm looking forward to the move and trying something new!

Hope to hear from everyone!

Take care

Dustin

Dustin,

24 year old Worland native here. Don't forget to look back at the previous Worland post. I posted a rather long section on Worland.

It's funny that you should mention Elementary Ed. I'm actually, at this very moment, subbing for one of the 2nd grade teachers at East Side Elementary. I've already received my Bachelor's from UW and will return this fall for a M.S. in School Counseling.

We'll have to exchange information as April gets closer. If you're looking for things to do I can show you around the countryside, four-wheeling, hiking, fishing, or whatever. Good luck on your move out here! If you don't mind me asking, What exactly will you be doing for the AmeriCorps here in Worland? I'm very curious... Talk to you later.

Talon

Default Just moved to Worland

I just moved to Worland with my little family and have a little insight to what it is like moving from the big city and trying to find a place to live. We lived in Medford Oregon and my husband accepted a job offer here. I spent two months looking in the newspaper and checking with the different realty companies in town for a rental. We got really hung up because we have a dog. It was a miracle to find someone who would accept a pet. You will have much better luck finding a rental without pets. I did find out that not all of the rentals in the newspaper are listed on the internet edition so it may be better to subscribe if you have time. We finally ended up finding a place through the help of Hake realty.
It was a major culture shock moving here. It has a very small town feeling and I had a very hard time adjusting the first month. However, we found that making trips to Cody or Billings on the weekends keeps us satisfied for the "city" cravings. The other nice thing, no traffic or waiting in line at the tanning salon!
It is pretty cold, I wont lie. It hit -38 in Dec-Jan, however I am suprised that I have already gotten used to it and 50 degrees feels really warm because the sun is always shining!
I dont know much else since I am only going into my third month here.
Mindy
