I'm sure of it. I'm also sure that these people who wish to welcome the alien more than the kinsman will have a terrible surprise. For when they voluntarily come to the camps, assuming that they will be the keepers, they'll discover that they are, in fact, the slaves. The people they were planning to rule won't be there. The latter may be dead or half-starved in a wilderness, but they won't be in the camps.
Five thousand years ago our people domesticated the horse, invented the wheel, and conquered the world. We'll do it again. If any man doubts, let him look at the civilization we created.

I am Black. And I worked in a school in NY a long Island suburb. One day I was referred to as a 'spade'. In as much as this bothered me, I was raised to remember that the kids in this school repeat what they are taught. At the same time the student should be taught that this attitude is unacceptable don't expect a change overnight. Perhaps it was mom or dad or grandparent that told the bad joke in the first place. I live in Maine. Another very white state. I was stationed here when in the Navy. Although I don't see color because in my home it went without saying people are people and taken for who they are not the color of their skin, my experience here has been good. Yes there are some people who didn't get it because they have never been exposed to other races. I found that once they got to know me for who I am they were more acceptable. Just the same there are some that will never invite me to their home. In this day and age it's scary that things are this way. I seen the World News Tonight with Charlie Gibson this evening and seen the segment about how Pinedale has more jobs than they have people. I am in a moving mode to leave Maine after 9 yrs and I pulled up this sight with the statistic of basically no blacks in that area anyway, and think I will keep looking.
The students are fortunate to have a teacher that believes differently.

Don't take everyone's comments personally. Months back before our election in Nov., I posted a middle-of-the-road comment and got very angry, insulting comments about me too. I've pretty much become a lurker on these boards because I personally believe (again, traslate my opinion so please don't flame back) some dissenting opinions aren't welcome.
Having said that, if I keep my middle-of-the-road comments quiet in most public settings, I have found Wyoming a nice place to live, raise kids, etc. Although I'm not going to lie - my elementary school-aged kids got negative comments when they took a family photo to school during a "family" project and showed 2 cousins who are 1/2 Hispanic.

I'm not sure race is the issue in Wyoming. People from Wyoming just don't want anyone moving here. Period. I've been here two years and have made very few friends. When I first went to register my vehicles the woman working for the city looked at where I was from on my vehicle titles and said "ya, I went there once. I hated it. Too many trees." She pretty much slammed her way through the rest of my paperwork and I still dread going to Town Hall to deal with people like her. For the most part I've found the people here unfriendly and judgmental. I found a job where I work on my own and spend my off time in the mountains or in my house. It works for me but if you're a social person, you might want to rethink Wyoming.

I have no basis to dispute your personal experience in Buffalo, but it does sound atypical of the folks I've met up there.
It's certainly different than the experiences I've ever had in Wyoming ... and I moved here from Colorado, which isn't high on a lot of folks' list.

LOL - I too moved here from Colorado and was a "damn greenie" for a year or so, (my hubby probably called me that for the longest! ) but was surprised how quickly Wyomingites got over it and took me for what I was. I've moved to different communities in Wyoming, and there is a bit of a time period where people keep their distance, but in short time have warmed up.
I too don't dispute the Buffalo experience, nomerci, and that is unfortunate. Have you sought out other transplants? Fellow transplants are some of my best friends.

I don't know if my first message went through or not...but I asked why so many folks are saying I am a "bigot" just because I prefer to live among my own race; White folks. I don't hate blacks or Hispanics, I only prefer to live among the white race. Why is that so bad? Are there any towns left in Wyoming where only white people live? Sign me "Tired of living in Denver"
