Of that, I'll take your figure of about half that population are in the workforce.
But you keep insisting that "thousands" of people commute to Jackson from this area every day.
What you are asserting is that well over half of the workforce in Teton County, ID, commutes to Jackson every day.
Pure BS. Pure Nonsense.

Read it again , I never said that. Where did I say other than thousands commute? I did not break that down into where they commuted from.
I did say where others have said that. Even if 1000 people from Idaho did commute( the reported numbers say it is more) that would only be 1/4 of the work force in the Year 2004.

The following figures are from the year 2000. The numbers have risen dramatically since then and at that time Idaho's numbers were over 1000.
Teton County, Wyo. jobs 2000
TC, Wyo. residents who work in TC, Wyo. 10,909
Sublette residents who work in TC, Wyo. 134
Lincoln residents who work in TC, Wyo. 895
TC, Ida. residents who work in TC, Wyo. 1,014
Fact not fiction or supposition

Well, here it is in your own post ... where you show that 8,000 people commute in to Jackson every day and then ridicule me for asserting that only a few hundred commute in from ID. Not only "thousands", but 8,000 total workers commuting in each day.
Your premise that only 1/4 of the workforce in Teton County ID commutes to Jackson simply doesn't hold water. Driggs and Victor are economic centers in the county, and they aren't dependent as bedroom communities upon Jackson.
You can't even remember what you posted your earlier posts ... and you apparently choose to ignore that I'm using first-hand reports from a few of my former employees who did the commute from Driggs to Jackson so they could save money to go to UWYO in Laramie. They thought it would be easy to do the Cheyenne - Laramie commute, but the found it to be just as problematic as the Driggs - Jackson commute. After several months in a drought winter, they gave up and took lesser paying jobs in Laramie.

That comes from a report. I said 1000's intially and you disputed that.

This was an example not a fact.

Read some of the reports. In the year 2000 over 1000 people where making the commute. Sorry you don't believe it. Does not change the facts.

So it looks like about 2,000 people commute into Jackson from Idaho, Star Valley and Bondurant area. That's thousands in my view.
The road over Teton Pass is good and they have improved the road thru the canyon but I still wouldn't do it. Dicey roads are tough no matter how wide. The last few years I lived out there I bought a small place in Hoback Jct which is a 25 mile commute to work out at Teton Village. More than enough white knuckle moments and the route is bascially flat with a 4wd truck.

I would not commute over the pass but I also avoid it in the summer when it is good, just not my cup of tea. Commuting the canyon I have done and would do again. The other drivers scare me much more than the road does.
Not commuting is just not a choice for most people that want to own a home. It is a fact of life for most people here. I own a frontwheel drive vehicle( not 4wd) and have never had a problem on the highways.

I live in Victor and drive over the Pass everyday. It sucks in the summer because of the campers and tourists driving 20mph up and riding their brakes down. In the winter, it's not a big deal if you drive for the conditions and don't overreact. I have 4WD and all-season tires and I have never had a problem. Sure, there are occasional slick spots, but it's winter and it snows here. The road crews do a great job maintaining the road and it's often much less icy than the streets in town. I think the Pass was closed 3 or 4 times during the day this past winter; but, the avalanche activity was unusually high.
As far as the number of people making the commute? I don't know a number, but depending on what time you drive, you can find yourself in a line a traffic that stretches as far as you can see.

My Daughter dives from Star Valley to Jackson , but not during the Jackson 500 6-8AM and 4-6pm. There is a shuttle bus that runs from SV to Jackson the 5 work days.
