Default December 1955 Crash at Warren AFB

Trying to put together my Air Force memories and
missed being on a plane in December 1955 when it
crashed at Warren AFB.
Anyone know of any news articles that appeared in local papers concerning this?

The cargo might have been destined for Warren. But right now, they don't have a runway. Don't think they had one then either. The AF uses Cheyenne's normal airport.

Planes fly into the regular terminal and then everything is trucked over to Warren. But again, not sure but they might have had a runway back then.

The reason I mention it is because you might find more data looking at Cheyenne's airport wreck reports instead of Warrens.

To the best of my knowledge and in referring to old aviation guides, Warren AFB has never had a fixed wing runway. KFEW only lists the 30' x 30' helicopter pad on the base.

So, ElkH probably has it right ... if there was a military plane crash in Cheyenne, it would have been at the Cheyenne municipal airport which shares space with the military on the North Ramp area.

My dad was in the Air Force in Cheyenne. I will ask him what he remembers about the 1955 crash and what he has to say. Will get back with you as soon as I can.
