I am wondering if you might get a pretty good idea of what hells half acre is like by going down highways 211 or 212, to the east and west of hells half acre ? If you look at a google map , you will see that a lot of that country is pretty rough like hells half acre is.

Highway 20/26 is the only paved road near The Half. The hotel burned to the ground a few years ago. The store operators moved back to Laramie full time. All buildings have been razed to the ground. Nothing remains but the concrete foundations. The tourist stop is barricaded by chain link fence. If you want to go to the bottom, you must hike around to the south end to walk in. Any other attempt will likely end in a fall to the bottom. The formations are not hard rock, rather they are siltstone and are very soft and crumbly. When wet, they are as slick as greasy kitchen tile. i live about 80 km as the crow flies (without Wyoming wind) south of there.
