Default where can I catch the bus from Gillette to Wright

Tomorrow's my first day at the mines down in Wright. I live in Gillette and I'm not sure my little truck can make it if there's going to be a blizzard. Someone told me there were buses that went down to the mines that leave out of Gillette. Where are they?

The buses meet right behind the Shell station at the intersection of Hwy 59 and Union Chapel. I'm not sure what time they leave and that depends on your shift. I would go there tonight at around 5:00 when people are coming & going and just ask around if you can't get ahold of anyone at the bus company. I go past there to get to my house but don't know details. I do know there are folks there around 5:00 and 7:00 pm as well as other times. I'm sure they could help you out!

Default Thanks GM

I just got back from there. You're right, its just behind the Shell station on the left as you're going south. There's a bus that leaves in the AM around 5:30.

I'm glad you were able to find out what you needed to do! I don't blame you for not wanting to drive in the blizzard. I don't either! Best of luck to you on the new job Let us know how it goes!

Thanks Sunbelt,

This is good information for me to know. This is one little tidbit that I haven't gotten details about yet. Is this meeting area for ALL the companies that offer bus service to the mines south on 59, or just one specific company?
I am currently in limbo, and waiting for the phone to ring which will give me my start date in Gillette. I am coming up on 2 months now since i first sent in my resume. I have interviewed, and gone through all the pre employment procedures already. Hopefully, the company i have applied with is not yet feeling the economic strains, and have not imposed any "freezes" yet.
Good luck on your first day, and let us know how it went.

I rode the bus today for the 1st time. It gets there (the one for Thunder Basin) about 5:45. Just before that is the one for Rio-Tinto. I saw maybe another one, I don't remember - I'll make a note of which mines are there tomorrow. There's also one across from Jake's restaurant. I'll post when I find out more. Its great because you don't spend on gas and you can catch a snooze on the way.

There's several that go to Black Thunder from Gillette. They leave from/pick up at several different places. Across from Jakes, the Conoco station at Union Chapel are 2 out of 4 places. Also there's busses that go to the other mines too, like NARM and (can't think of the other one right now). I ride the bus from Wright to the mines now because I've since moved to Wright.

Good luck to you in the job. After 10 months of waiting, and having to apply and interview twice, I finally have a start date of Nov 16th at Antelope. I had my first interview back in Feb., then had to go trough it all over again last month. I was good to go back in Feb., but the economy put the skids on any hiring.

Again, here's hoping the best for you.
