Democratic enclave in Wyoming? - is it possible? (Cheyenne, Casper: live in, restaurant)

The live and let live ethos is bunk, just look at the walls in any small town bar/restaurant. They don't even bother to paint over N-word this, ****** that. If I were other than white, I'd be very hesitant to travel off the interstates alone. And if you're a woman alone, avoid the rest stops unless there are a few people there, from at least 2 separate groups. There are so many rapes in lonely highway rest stops I think they have pre-printed forms. There are areas that federal employees won't take government cars, renting vehicles instead.

Everyone has a gun, the more paranoid and smaller-penised the bigger. I lived there for 7 years, am going back for family. Will probably get a carry permit, not because of criminals but so that when drunk redneck #32711 gets confused in a conversation requiring thought and pulls his mega-zooka because his crotch feels light, I can pop him first. Not so many years ago, two white guys went home and got a shotgun, returned to a bar, shot and killed an unarmed black guy, and were acquitted. Look up "Smokey Lyle" and "Casper"...

I've been in many small town bars and restaurants across Wyoming, and I can't recall ever seeing the n-word on a wall. I'm sure if I searched every public bathroom stall I could find it somewhere... in any state.

Women traveling alone at night should be careful at rest stops. In Wyoming, at least, I'd be even more careful at Interstate rest stops -- more crazies from out of state. How many rapes in Wyoming's "lonely highway rest stops" can you cite? Show us a few. How about three? Two?

I don't have a gun. My son doesn't have a gun. We've both lived in Wyoming for 38 years. I guess not everyone in Wyoming has a gun. And in all these years, I've never seen anyone pull a gun on another person.

I Googled "Smokey Lyle" and "Casper" and got nothing.

To answer your original question -

Lander and Laramie are your best bets for any type of liberal or bohemian feel. Now realize, that it's liberal for WYOMING -

I've lived here in Lander for five years, and am proud to say that there are quite a few liberal democrats here. Our democratic caucus was HUGE this past election - over 800 folks showed up; for a town with 8000 people in it, that's amazing. Lander also boasts being the national headquarters for the National Outdoor Leadership School (www.nols.edu), bringing in lots of culture and differing viewpoints other than the typical "red" neck.

Laramie is home to the state's only university (talk about political monopoly), and tries very hard to have a bit of university appeal. It is only 45 minutes from Ft. Collins, which is the home of Colorado State University.

I know Democrats in Wyoming,Montana,Idaho,Colorado. We are all friends in alot of ways, we just don't get too involved in politics when talking. Alot of them even agree with me about ole obamma and how he's doing us.

I've been a Republican my whole adult life, but many of my friends and even a couple wives have been Democrats. We're not normally that far apart on issues. Granted, I'm a moderate, but I find that most people around here are moderates, whether Republican or Democrat.
