Looking for location to teach Utah Concealed Carry in Rock Springs
Hello all, I'm from out of state and will be conducting a Utah Concealed Carry class on May 13th at 6:00pm in Rock Springs. I've looked into a few hotels but they are rather pricey for the amount of people that will come. I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions on where I could teach. A restaurant, bowling alley, gun store, etc, or just about anywhere that I could put up 10-20 chairs.
Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know of any place suitable for your class.
However, I'm curious as to why you'd be teaching a UT CC class here in Wyoming, and some distance away from Utah. Is there some reason why a Wyoming resident would want a UT carry permit in addition or instead of their WY CCW permit?
Also, are you teaching the entire UT course in the one evening? Wyoming requires several class meetings for their program, as well as range time to demonstrate competency and safety with firearms.

I've been interested in getting the Utah permit--do you possibly have room for one or two more? I'd have to drive from Casper, and if my schedule permits I'd be willing to make the trip. I've been wanting to go to FrontSight for a while--but that's a pricey proposition.... If you could perhaps Direct Message me here on city-data with any details I'd surely appreciate it.
Sunsprit---
In a nutshell, the Utah permit has reciprocity with 30 states, so it covers many more than just Wyoming's alone. Utah and Florida's permits are allowed to be held by non-residents, so it would behoove one who travels to have them. Additionally, to obtain said permits you must take a course given by a Utah (or Florida, in that particular case) certified instructor.
Edit: I forgot to also mention that you must also already have a Weapons Familiarity Certification prior to taking a course.

Cloudfish ... OK, I understand that Wyoming's reciprocity has been limited by recent attorney general interpretations of CC compliance with other states.
But, questions still:
1) Is the class being taught here in Wyoming the complete class requirement for the UT CCW permit?
2) What fees, and how does one go about the application process for UT?
3) What is the Weapons Familiarity Certification requirement? Can this be met by having a CCW permit from Wyoming? Or is there only a specific class and certificate issued to meet this?

Really great questions...
Yes, non-Utah residents can attend the Utah CCW class and receive a Utah permit. The Utah permit is recognized in WY and in 33 other states. Some states (like Colorado) do not recognize Utah permits from non Utah residents.
All that is required to obtain the Utah permit is to sit through the 4 hour class. You, as the permit holder, have a responsibility to know and become proficient with your firearm.
If you travel, getting a Utah permit is the way to go because it is recognized in so many states.
advertising not allowed.
No ideas on a class location? I'm sure I'll find something. Let me know if you have any other ?'s about the Utah permit.

If you ever make it closer to Gillette I would be interested in taking the course and I'm sure I could round up several others as well. The local college up here is where the NRA courses are held, and I may be able to secure the use of the store I work for if they wouldn't do it.

Hi MyUtahCCW,
Perhaps you could try one of the Sweetwater county Libraries:
sweetwaterlibraries.com
I haven't spent much time in the "Rock Springs Library" branch, but I know that the "White Mountain Library" branch (also in Rock Springs) has some nice conference rooms.
You also may be able to get a room at Western Wyoming Community College:

Missed your first class. Are you planning another. I am from the Casper area and I know of several people that would like to join in. We could find you a place to hold the class. I would not think it would be difficult to make it worth coming to Casper.
Let me know.
Thanks in advance.
