Here is a sample of some pics of our mountain home area and our how we manage to enjoy nature at its finest. One of my major interests is large over the snow cats which we use along with snowmobiles and a Ford F250 equipped with a track system to go over the snow to access our home in the winter. We have about a 3 mile commute to highway 16 where we park our regular 4X4 vehicles in the wintertime. We must do this for almost 6 months each year as the road near our home is snowed in and closed. All supplies, groceries, people and everything you need must be transported over the snow in the winter.
Our mail box is in Buffalo 28 miles away as the post office has no delivery on the mountain. We enjoy our remoteness and especially the winter season which has it's own unique unspoiled beauty with very few people. We use satellite internet service to communicate with the world, family and friends. Our phone service is also satellite which lacks in service and is very limited. We are fortunate to be at the end of the electric grid line going west but we also maintain a backup generator for the times it does not function as we are not on the priority list for power line repairs when it goes down.
If there is more interest in seeing and learning about our remote living and lifestyle, I will start a new thread dedicated to living remote in the mountains of Wyoming. We have many pics of the seasons, scenery, wildlife and recreation adventures that we have been fortunate to of lived. Please let me know what your interests and questions are and I will try to answer them utilizing our experiences and real facts. This lifestyle is not for everyone but we have been blessed to be able to do this with good health while we were young enough to enjoy the adventure.
This is a pic taken about a mile from our home with the Hazelton Peaks area in the background as we headed out to the highway early one morning last year. It was beautiful morning as most are on the mountain after a fresh snow that even stuck to the fence in the background. Our home is toward the peaks in this pic in forested area.
This pic was taken this year as we crossed the forest service meadow about 200 yards west of our home. We had been out on our snow mobiles touring the neighborhood. It was taken looking again looking west at the Hazelton Peaks and the Powder River Pass area. We call this meadow our backyard as we are just a 2 minute walk from it in the timber to the east.
This is what our front yard looked like the 1st of April this year. We had a great winter snow season with lots of snow and still have snow today in the yard but we are driving regular 4X4 vehicles now to our home.
