Default Lander Wyoming class of 1969 +/-

Any locals visit this forum? I'm wondering what has changed. I have not been back there for years.

Anyone else here remember "Ratso" riding his motorcycle through the halls of the highschool? He almost got away with it but wrecked making a corner a block away from his parents house.

Do I understand correctly that Western Nuclear closed its uranium mines in Jefferey City and US Steel also closed? Many people who lived in Lander commuted to those jobs back then. I see that the population has been decreasing there for the last 20 years, is that because of the lost jobs?

What else has changed?

Trouthead is on a distinguished road
I worked in the Lander School for a long time. Heard the tales about the motorcycle ride through the hall for years.

Jeffery City mines close around 1980. Never did open again. Atlantic City close in the mid 80's and town almost blew away. It has recovered and is still one of the nicest places to live in Wyoming. No more Drive In, still only one theater screen, 3 pizza places, 2 asian/chinese resturants, and quite a few other resturants.

The old high school has been knocked down and replace by a brand new one next to the field house. A new middle school will replace the Jr. High in a couple of years, and then a new grade school to replace North and South.

It reminds me a lot of Jackson, without the glitz in the late 70's.
