We got caught yesterday in a few good thunderstorms up in the Big Horns. We went up to look for a possible camp site for a weekend camping trip up by Sawmill Lake and the Twin Lakes area and we got bombarded with rain and hail. We also got hit up by Dead Swede. Then we got hit again on our way home by Bear Lodge It let up by the time we got off the mountain. Boy was that a mess trying to go through that construction with rain and hail barring down on us. On our way down it looked as if Sheridan was being hit hard, but once we got to Acme we realized it was missing Sheridan. I don't know who was getting hit, but it looked nasty that's for sure.

We went up Redgrade (out of Bighorn) and came back down the Switchbacks. (above Dayton)

Well we didn't get up there until 11:ish and didn't start coming back down until around 5:ish. We saw a cow moose over by some ponds near the picnic area by Twin Lakes. We found a larger pond/small lake just past that and tried drowing some worms. Didn't catch anything because 1) the time we were fishing and 2) the weather. But boy were they jumping. We thought we would let the kids do some fishing up at Bear Lodge being that it's almost a gaurantee of them catching something out of that pond, but by the time we got over there it started getting nasty again, so we decided to just head for home.

Take them out to Acme. Almost don't even have to bait your hook. I caught a few bass and switch lures. Still caught bass. Switched again and still caught bass. Used almost every lure in my box and picked up bass on all of them. So I switched and tried some chicken livers. Caught another bass. I've never seen bass hit chicken but they did that day.

I never even thought about going out to Acme. I'll have to let hubby know and maybe we can let the kids get some practice fishing in before we head up to the mountains. Hubby was thinking about just taking them to Mavrakis ponds to let them practice, but Acme sounds much better.

I checked out Mavrakis back in May. 2 hours and never got a bite.
