Default Yellowstone lodging

Hello everybody.

On a "limited budget", where is the best place to stay in Yellowstone in mid-August ? Are there any places less than $100 per night? Anywhere within 50 miles of Yellowstone Lake?

Thank you for your time and expertise. I really appreciate it.

I did a quick search on hotels.com and found a few listed under 100... you might want to check out priceline or orbitz or places like that as there are usually deals on.

good luck

There is only one place I know of that is actually right on Lake Yellowstone and is around $100/night, Cascade Lodge. It's a pretty decent place.

North of the lake alittle further than 50 miles is the Roosevelt Lodge cabins which are pretty rustic but go for $70-$100/night depending on the ammenities.

You can call the park's lodging consessionaire Xanterra and get all the info.
1-866-GEYSERLAND (866-439-7375)or 307-344-7311.

The bad news is I would be shocked if you found much availibility this late in the game. Most places in the park are booked by now.

If you want to stay IN Yellowstone then I would use the above info. If you are ok with lugging your own bedding, we're going in July and getting a "kabin" at the KOA at West Yellowstone. I know that one is running us $85 a night (my parents RV spot is $68). I know there is a KOA down near Grand Teton.

Just so you know

You may check into the Cabins the Rosevelt area of the park, I think they are called Rosevelt Cabins. They are for sure under a hundred. Make sure you make reservations as many monts in advance as you can because they fill up fast... sometimes people reserve a year in advance... Canyon Cabins are still under a hundred I think also..

Best of luck to you

Just north of yellowstone is the town of Gardner,MT. We have stayed in a motel on the main strip there, decent little motel, nothing fancy, it was around $75 a night i think but cant remember, but the edge of the town is the N entrance to yellowstone, antelope and other critters are often seen in town.
May be worth checking out, there may be cheaper places in town, not sure.
Just a idea for you to check out if you are interested.
