Not many landlords want a 70-pound dog in their rentals, gentle and well-trained as they might be. That'll be your biggest problem in finding housing. When my son was released from the Navy 15 years ago, he got himself an Alaskan husky.


I warned him about the difficulty in finding a rental with a dog, but he was sure he could find one. He ended up buying a home so he could keep it.
It worked out well for him, as he sold his house last month for $125,000 profit, but that's just an example of what dog ownership can mean.
You'll probably have to plan on a place that's a little run down unless you get lucky.
