Sheridan Apartment Complex's (Cheyenne, Buffalo, Ranchester: low income, section 8, townhouse)

Does Sheridan(or surrounding towns) have apartment complex's? I know the population is only around 15k, more or less, so I'm not sure if I would see these types of apartments in the area. Surely there has to be some. If you know the names of them, could you list them so I can check them out possibly? Thank you all for your help.

The two apts. that I said retirement complexes, I know for sure are for retired people. I know that there are more than the two I named and I think they are the ones I said might be. There may be a couple more that I missed. Otherwise the rest are open to any age. Some are low income and some are not, but I can't tell you for sure which ones.

That's our story and we're sticking to it.

By the way. I'm helping a guy that is only 28 move into Heritage Towers. But, he has disabilities. He WILL be the youngest person there. Except maybe the dishwasher.

Why is there a long waiting list for getting an apartment? More people than places to live?

Yes, there is an extreme shortage of affordable housing. Note the word affordable.

Average 2 bedroom, 1 bath house in this town will cost you over $1000 a month. Now tack on utils and such.

A lot of these apartments are in the $500-$600 range for 1 bedroom and $600-$700 for 2 bedrooms.

In this day and age people are way to busy to do things like, Mow a lawn, chat over the fence with neighbors, care for a garden, water plants.

Instead they want somebody else to mow and water and shovel snow so they don't have to. They have plastic plants and plastic lives.

Used to be that an apartment was a stepping stone to give a person a chance to save a little and get together a down payment on their own home. Now it's a necessity for some because they have no time.

I know that there have been a couple of younger people (under 50) who have lived at the Towers. But most of them did have some type of disabilty and were on SSI. I think most of the folks who live there though are, and the Towers were basically built for, people over 50 with low incomes. My grandmother lived there for awhile, but it became to samll for all of her sewing and quilting supplies. She now lives in Westpark with more room and she is outgrowing that as well.

I always thought too that getting an apartment was a stepping stone to owning a house. At least my wife and I did it that way. Now we have our own home, mow the lawn and have a real garden and real flowers and plants and we both work full time. More satisfaction in doing things the "real" way or should I say the "hard" way.
I would like to be a resident of Sheridan someday, at least I'm working towards that goal. I fell in love with Wyoming back in 2004, been dreaming of it every day since. I love that state, it's beauty(even if there's miles of absolutely nothing in some places, I love it's history(so much to see, so little time to soak it all in). I want to live in a state I can be proud of.
