Default Drive from Salt Lake to Cody

Does anyone know if it is faster to get to Cody from Salt Lake going through Rock Springs, then up through Thermop? Or straight up from Idaho into West Yellowstone? Any thought will be appreciated.

I would assume that during this time of the year (tourist season) you would want to avoid Yellowstone. If that's the case then I'd take the Evanston/Rock Springs/Riverton/Thermop/Cody route. Going from W. Yellowstone through the park to Cody would be a slow go.

I agree with Georgiainmt...Yellowstone won't be faster because of the tourists, reduced speed limit and you might have road construction.

Be careful in Thermop and Shoshoni. I have noticed a number of out-of-state cars pulled over. It may be coicidence, but who knows?

These are the ones driving in too much of a hurry to Cody, Yellowstone and other vacation spots who drive like they are still in the big cities that turn their head the other way on speeders............

Thanks for the heads up. One time traveling through that area, I got pulled over 2 times with in 10 mins. I was driving an unfamiliar car, and found out that the speedometer was off. They have no mercy, and do seem to be more alert during tourist season.

Thanks for the input, I think I will use the regular route through rock springs, then thermop.
