Has the bad economy had an effect on tourism?
I was just wondering....with the bad economy across the nation and so many people unemployed....have you noticed any decline in tourism? I know many of the areas like Cody and Jackson Hole are geared around tourism. So, I was wondering if there is a lack of travelers and vacationers this year....are you noticing any negative impact on the businesses in these towns or on Wyoming in general?

Haven't noticed a lack of tourists in Sheridan. Traffic has been nasty. Most are out of state plates. So I suspect that people are still traveling for vacation, just watching the budget a little closer.

At this point in the season, the numbers for Cody and Yellowstone are ahead of last year. Go someplace else if you're looking for a vacation on the cheap!

I guess that's good for all of the businesses that depend on the tourist's dollars.

Ain't that the truth. I have been avoiding downtown Sheridan and Coffeen Ave. as much as possible here lately. Oh and all of the dang road construction ain't making it any easier to get around and avoid them. I'd head to the mountains, but I think they are just as full with terrorists, Err I mean tourists.

I did head for the mountains. My place doesn't even have an address. Had to go into town and get a postal box.
Today, I drove into Sheridan. Took me the better parts of 2 hours. Ruts, cuts, bogs, Did it in my 4 wheeler. Picked up a jug and headed home. Did eat a burger at Wally World. Had to try out my new tires. Put common tread radials on my 4 wheeler. Still took 2 hours. I love it!!!!!!
