Bessemer Bend and it was built in 1812 by Robert Stuart.

And for anyone reading this who doesn't know where Bessemer Bend is, it's in the greater Casper area -- a couple miles southwest on Hwy 220.

Curious to see where Bessemer Bend is I looked it up. Here is a map.

bessemer bend, casper, wy - Google Maps

I never would have guessed the first cabin was built this far into the middle of the state. I would have expected Laramie or Cheyenne area.

I thought it would have been a harder question being that most of his investigations and adventures took place in and around Yellowstone and there were several chasms in the Yellowstone area.
