Default dust and dirt

Is Cheyenne or more importantly, the surrounding rural areas dusty and dirty?

I am from Michigan, originally, I grew up in the country, on a farm, I don't mind being dirty, but I like to keep my house and my car clean, my work truck can be dirty but thats it. I just moved to Phoenix and it is terribly dusty and dirty. When it rains there is dirt particles in the rain drops! no joke. thank you

I'd say so. Of course it's only the first of the rain drops that are really muddy. After awhile the rain drops are almost a liquid -- if it's a warm day.

I imagine around Cheyenne is no different than the rest of the state, dry and dusty. I haven't spent much time in that part of the state but our former house up here in Sheridan was ALWAYS dusty, ALWAYS. You could have dusted that house 4 times a day and it'd still have been dusty. Within a couple of days there would be a nice thick layer of dust on everything. That was out on the ranch though - dirt roads all around and it was an older house (not sealed very well, still had original single pane windows in it).

A lot will depend on the specific location, if you're on paved streets with a "newer" house that is sealed up better you won't have nearly as much dust as a place that is older, hasn't been updated, and is beside a gravel road.

Oh, and we have that dirt rain here too .

Given the strong winds that blow dust and dirt around for most of the year, it's impossible to keep the inside of your car or home clean, let alone "dust-free" in this area.

Even with a newer construction home with multi-pane tight windows and good storm doors and tight sealing doors, you will have dust blown in when the doors or windows are open, even if only for a few seconds. In an older home like ours, if you walk across our hardwood floors and they haven't been damp mopped for a day or so, you'll feel the dirt underfoot. Drives my wife crazy keeping the house clean, she's always washing stuff down and even light fixtures and lamps need to be cleaned every week or so.

Most of the county areas here are on dirt (not gravel) roads, and it doesn't take much to stir up a big cloud of dust when a vehicle drives by ... or when a farmer is out working a dryland wheat field.

Default Yes.

You ever hear about that palm-tree island that was man-made off the coast of Dubai?

I could make a bigger one with all the dust and dirt inside my truck.

My house, my vehicles, my dogs, and everything else get dusty and dirty here. But when I lived in Detroit, my vehicles would be coated with sticky filth two or three days after being washed.

I lived a 30 miles east of Grand Rapids Mi, in the country, near the expressway, down a really small dirt road. I could wash my cars once a month and they were always very clean. The dirt road was only 1/4 mile long, everyone respectfully drove slow and it was not dusty in the first place, thanks to the humidity everyone complains about. I am beginning to appreciate it!

here is a pic I just happened to have online, its of a car I sold a wile back but it shows some of the house and yard.
