Default WyoTech and Laramie

Well I just thought I would post. Most of you won't recognize me more than likely, but I have posted a few times. Anyway, I was applying and offered a job in Laramie to teach at WyoTech. Here is the old thread.
http://www.city-data.com/forum/wyomi...ocation-2.html

Well unfortunatly the econamy went bust and the class student numbers reflected that. Right after being offeredt the job, the school went on a hiring freeze. A year later, I just spoke with the hiring manager at the school and he told me the class numbers have been increasing and they should be back to full force soon. When it does, they will be ready to hire a teacher for the auto upholstery class again.

Just hoping it happens soon and all as it would sure help on the homefront for jobs and stuff.

I know this is kinda a pointless post, but I sure would like to be there right now. Take care guys and girls!

I also remember you. Hope the job comes through. Things are kind of picking up around the state and I'm sure the school is the same way.

If I remember correctly, your wife wasn't completely tickled with thoughts of Wyoming? Have you convinced her of the vast, wonderful we call home?

Unfortunatly no. LOL! Really though it is going to come down to a matter of need sooner than later. We are kinda like polar opposites in the sense that I grew up with cattle, horses and country and still love the solitude of it all while she is more of a small city girl. Of course the small city I speak of is a poulation of 50,000 or so. Problem is, she has so much education that when she was laid off about 2 years ago, most places won't hire her because they know she won't be there for the long haul.

If I was to be offered the job, than she knows it would be a blessing, but is scared mostly of a lack of jobs available to her because of the population or lack of but I would like to think she would enjoy the area and think that with the University in town that she could find something.

Either way, it will be up to God and one way or another I'll make it back to WY even if only for a long vacation

What is your wife's work background? Hopefully something will pop up for her, too. One thing about Wyoming, there are so few people that there may be something in her specialty field that the company can't find a person for due to lack of population here! Hope that's the way it turns out for her, anyway!

Well, I am still wiating on WyoTech too. The guy I have been talking to for the last year and a half is a really nice guy that keeps me informed. So untill they decide they have a need for night classes again I am still right here in AR. Good news is that the classes are filling back up and they were at full daytime class this past sesion. They have 4 classes a year and will be starting the new one probably as I am talking about it. So as long as things keep like they are and increase, than hopefully I hear from them by the end of the year.

My brother in law was probably one of the best carpenters around. He was in demand by all the builders. His name is Dr Dave. Yeah, he had a PHD in geology but he worked as a carpenter for a few years until he landed the job he wanted. But, he enjoyed his work and would settle for nothing less. His wife was a attorney.

yep, I don't think that would be an issue. I mean maybe not her doing carpenter work but she could do something else untill the right thing came along for sure.

Shes always been the bread winner and has to be to cover student loans and bills that won't be going away, but If I could land a job with WyoTech, she could be more flexible as roles could reverse or at least even out. That would help with her job search.

Anyway, I will sure update when I know something. Probably at least a couple months.
