Smile Question/help about housing and life in Lander

Greetings,

It could be that my husband might accept a job offer in Lander. We are not having savings allowing us to put a hefty down payment on a house. We are therefore looking for a house for rent or lease option until we find out where to buy. Also, it is quite urgent as this job will start asap. We are in Montana now.
I am somewhat nervous to leave a really nice house we rent for a great price and not knowing Lander. We did live in Jackson for 5 years and would not want to repeat that, as to housing costs and resort lifestyle.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

I graduated from High School in Lander, quite a few years ago. It is a very nice town surrounded by beautiful country. If I were to move back to Wyoming I would definitely consider Lander. It is not at all a tourist town so the real estate prices should not be so high.

Here are some other threads that might shed some light:

There is a community email service for lander where people often list rentals or you can post a 'want to rent.' Go to NOLS - National Outdoor Leadership School and type 'lander talk' into their search engine and you will be directed to a page that will tell you how to sign up. Lander like the rest of wyo had a pretty tight rental market but I have noticed more 'rentals available' lately. Good luck and welcome to lander =-)

Default Thank you

Thank you to the people who responded.
I will try these links.
I was trying to find online newspapers as well, but one updated the classifieds in July....
I found nothing on Craigslist, in terms of houses either.

you might want to try looking for rentals in Riverton (25 miles from Lander) as there tends to be more there.
