Can anybody give me any information on the town of Afton as far as the weather (wind) and schools, local stores, and housing market? Any information will be much appreciated!

I lived in Afton for 14 years. Just retired in 2004 and moved to Texas. Actually Afton has very little wind when compared to other parts of the State. Because Afton is in a valley - Star Valley - I think it is somewhat protected from the wind. But, when it snows, it snows! And, it stays also, unlike other parts of the State where the winds blow the snow into Nebraska.

I think the schools are rated pretty high in Afton. Large community following when it comes to school sports.

Not a lot of stores there, sorry. Pretty much just one grocery store, besides several convenient stores. Not a lot of clothing stores either. No shoe store at all. I made several trips per year to Idaho Falls or Jackson for most household items and clothing. There's a Pizza Hut, Subway, Burger King and several small restaurants.

The housing market is booming there. I sold my house there for a large profit back in 2004 and I hear they are still getting lots of retired people from California, etc., moving there and paying cash for property.

Friendly, community oriented people there. Mostly Mormon. I wasn't Mormon and didn't convert in my 14 years there, but they treated me well.

Good luck to you.
