That was a nasty-looking tornado! I hadn't even heard about it. Did it do much damage?

Officially, it was just a funnel cloud as it didn't touch down. I went into town (20 miles) on my 4 wheeler and spent about 3 hours looking around and didn't find any debree.

The problem with Billings weather is the radar looks flat. So with the curve of the earth, they can see about 12,000 ft above here. So they can see clouds, but can't see what's falling out the bottom of them. haha That's what us weather spotters are for.

That's a great photo by the way, but of all the tornados and funnel clouds I've seen around here, I would say that at the time of the photo it looks to me to BE on the ground.???

* at 450 pm mdt...national weather service doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing half dollar size hail...
And damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located 8
miles southwest of mayoworth...or 15 miles west of kaycee...and
moving north at 25 mph.

* the severe thunderstorm will be near...
Mayoworth around 500 pm mdt.
U.s. Hwy 16 mile marker 70 around 600 pm mdt.

This includes interstate 25 in wyoming between mile markers 264 and
290.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Severe thunderstorms produce damaging wind in excess of 60 miles per
hour...destructive hail...deadly lightning...and very heavy rain. For

Crook county in northeastern wyoming...

* at 716 pm mdt...trained weather spotters reported a line of severe
thunderstorms producing destructive winds in excess of 70 mph.
These storms were located along a line extending from 7 miles north
of lightning flat to 11 miles north of wyodak...and moving east at
45 mph.

A 69 mph wind gusts was reported 25 miles north northeast of
weston at 716 pm mdt.

* locations impacted include...
Rockypoint...lightning flat...oshoto...new haven...keyhole
reservoir...carlile...pine haven...devils tower...devils tower

The Nws Storm Prediction Center Has Issued A
Severe Thunderstorm Watch For Portions Of

Southeast Montana
Western South Dakota
Northeast Wyoming

Effective This Monday Afternoon And Evening From 220 PM Until
1000 PM MDT.

Hail To 2.5 Inches In Diameter, Thunderstorm Wind Gusts To 70
Mph, And Dangerous Lightning Are Possible In These Areas.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch Area Is Approximately Along And 65
Statute Miles North And South Of A Line From 80 Miles North
Northwest Of Sheridan Wyoming To 20 Miles East Of Philip South
Dakota. For A Complete Depiction Of The Watch See The Associated
