Most excellent.
Got to my insurance man's office 11:30 in Fort Mill signed the papers paid for 6 mos of insurance got my cards and copy of a policy, and headed to Rock Hill for the DMV stuff. Got there about 12:15. Only one suggestion is have a much better sign saying DMV. I went and paid my personal taxes, took about 5 minutes. Went next door, and it took maybe an hour to do the drivers license and license plates, went back to the tax place next door after that and signed in as a "resident" so I get charged the correct property taxes. Did everything to be an official South Carolinian and it took all of an hour maybe hour and 15 minutes. Not bad. |

WOW Mrs. P ... you did good ... considering it was one of the hottest days of the year!
Congratulations on becoming an official South Carolinian. |

Yes, our governor overhauled the DMV system a few years ago, and I can get in and out relatively quickly, even when it's a full house.

Took my wife and I about an hour and half last week to pay vehicle taxes and get new licenses and tags. It was very efficent. I agree about the need for better directional signage however.

Took me three hours today in Newport to do license and registration. And it's taken about 4 months and 20 hours of phone calls and letter writing to get to this point. But it's done, and I've never been so glad to have something done, with the possible exception of childbirth.
As messed up as this odyssey has been - and Honda made as many mistakes as the DMV did - all the folks in the Newport office were friendly and helpful. |

A bit off topic I know, but one nice thing about the SC DMV is that if you loose your license, you pay a $3 fee and they print you a new one on the spot.

Good for you! I will be doing that towards the end of the month!
How bad were your property taxes on your vehicles, if ya don't mind my asking. |

How much do they charge for personal property tax? How do they justify the price of the car?

They raised it to $10. My NC one was damaged before I moved to SC and I was able to request a duplicate online for $10. That was pretty nice.
