Has anyone tried Johnny K's on 160 E? I hear they have breakfast? I am new to the area and this is close by my house. I looked through the thread but didn't really see much about it.

Even though it was 2-3 years ago I got to agree. We never went back again.

That is a shame since I will not return to their Rock Hill location.

See post #340.
Personally I would have liked to have seen RH close instead of FM and Fort Mill is further for me than Rock Hill from home!

Goodness no ... did you happen to notice the framed picture sort of propped up on the shelf behind the counter ... that was a picture of the original Dutch Mill from the '50s when the restaurant was located on Cherry Rd ... the old Dutch Mill had a movie screen mounted on poles, you could park, the car hop (called curb-boys then) would take your order, you could eat and watch the movie ... Cherry Road was a two lane road at that time ... native residents are just glad the Dutch Mill legacy was passed on ... we were sorry the Tega Cay location had to close but the economy is the pits right now.

I understand history and legacy and am all for it. Believe me of all people I believe in legacy, I am building one myself both in several collections I have for my children and the farm we moved here to build for them. BUT...
Like I said I visited both and was very pleased/impressed with the food and service over at Tega Cay but I was not with the Rock Hill location. It's both the food and service that makes a lasting history which eventually creates the legacy. The food was ok/good at RH and I actually think it was much better in Tega Cay but it was the service. I may be a bit critical but I call it like I see it so all I can say I am really sorry to see Tega Cay going away.
The economy may be a bit poor but there is so much over there in the way of population I really thought they would do well. The only weak point I can see over there was the location and lack of visibility. I'd give my left arm, leg, (insert part here) to have a nice option like that out here in the Sharon/York area. Most of all I hate to see a business that tries hard like they did fail, it does not reflect on them at least with me easy to say for me but I hope they dust themselves off and maybe try somewhere else where they would be appreciated more.

I noticed a new place on Cherry Road - Luigi's Pizzeria and Spaghetti House - I believe it may be in the same shopping center as Marco's, or one of the ones right next to it. Has anyone tried it or heard anything about it? I'm a big Empire fan, but am always looking to try new places. By the way, Empire added Buffalo wings to the menu and they're the best I've had in the area. I'd pretty much given up on finding decent wings down here, but Empire's are very good.
Also tried Carlo's Cafe and liked it. I've never had Cuban food before, so I have nothing to compare it too. Service could have been better. It was a Saturday during lunch and the place was full and I believe they only had one waitress on duty handling the whole place. I'd go again, but maybe during the off hours.
Also tried DJ's Soul Food and thought it was very good. It's in a crummy little shopping / bingo area on 21 / Cherry Road right next to the bridge that connects Rock Hill to Fort Mill. Nice, clean, family run place. Give them a try.

I don't know if it's the same place or not but there seems to be a LOT of them in the area now. I know of one at 485 and Tryon in the Lowes Shopping Center, there is another one at Steel Creek and Tryon and now one by the same name right in Rock Hill ?
I went to the one on Steel Creek 2 weekends ago and was quite pleased by the pizza. I am also a big Empire fan, try to get there at least once a month for lunch and that's a lot since I don't really eat lunch! Not sure which pie I like better but the Luigi's slices are HUGE, the price reflect's it but on average it's 2+ x the size of a regular slice somewhere else.
Again don't know if it's the same place or not as the South Charlotte ones. Kind of odd/silly that there would be ANOTHER Pizza place opening up so close to 2 other ones. Sorry but there are plenty of other places in the area that can use a good Italian Restaurant in York County, I think it's kind of stupid to open in the same mall as Marco's (even though I won't go to Marco's due to the poor food) but it's still close to Empire and honestly Empire is just as good or possibly better than Luigi's. I think it's going to be bad for both businesses but maybe it will work out, they are a bit seperated.
